This is a logged bug, yet not even Sim Update 3 attempts to fix it. How long do console and cloud players have to wait until they can properly play without a mouse?
In todayâs developer stream I tried asking the developers about the issue. Unfortunately the question was not forwarded to them so we still donât have an answer. The lifetime bugs list has been updated but with only 33 votes this bug is still not on the developersâ radar. Itâs disheartening and disappointing. Without a mouse, this game is almost unplayable.
Thank you for trying. I just finished viewing the VOD replay. The energy seemed so low on everyoneâs part, and the answers thin. I note that recently a CM posted that Votes are not the only factor determining priority once a bug has been logged. One might reason that this would be a high priority bug, as it is indeed âsemi-gamebreaking,â and was introduced in the new iteration. I donât know what to think anymore. I would just be satisfied if the panel could describe and acknowledge our current experience with their product and provide a solid reason to believe itâs going to change. Supposedly Xbox is a supported platform, but it doesnât really feel like it.
I recognize that the vast majority of the playerbase uses a mouse. Obviously, everyone on PC, and I even recognize that maybe the majority of Xbox players use a mouse for MSFS as well. Still, not everyone has a mouse for this, not to mention any cloud players (on Xbox One for example), who canât use a mouse as far as I know. Even if they can, not everyone does.
Even so, the support for Xbox controllers and the Cursor Mode has to be there in full. Just as it was in MSFS 2020. I remember being worried before the console release of 2020, whether the sim would require a mouse, in which case I couldnât have played at all. And to my delight, it absolutely didnât need one, because Asobo solved the controller issue very well with the Cursor Mode.
Now weâre here in FS24 and Cursor Mode ruins your flight, and you canât properly use the UI either. Canât create flight plans. Using the Controls menu is a chore, because thereâs no cursor there either. Itâs either not consistent or doesnât work at all. This is game-breaking, and I will never accept the workaround to âbuy a mouseâ and reorganize the way I sit and play just to be able to have a mouse pointer on the screen. This is unacceptable and very disheartening to see the developers seemingly not recognizing the problem.
I tried as well. I then noticed when you submitted the same question and then I seconded hoping it would get some kind of traction. Unfortunately, to no avail. I hope they took note of it
Just keep bumping this thread and hope Asobo will notice and finally fix it.
In theory, they are aware. The bug-logged label means that the bug has been reproduced and acknowledged. Fixing it, however, is a different question. Since it got so few votes, itâs still very low on the priority list. It would need at least twice as many votes to appear on the âdeveloper updateâ bug lists. Otherwise it will forever be buried under all the other issues that get more attention, regardless how game-breaking this is.
Not necessarily.
Bug Logged also means that an internal bug report has been created to fix the issue.
In response to votes:
Thank you for the reminder/clarification. We just hope that the creators can discern and act when a specific âbug-loggedâ is leaving a group of players behind. This is one of them.
I couldnât agree more. Quite frankly itâs joke that we are nearly 8 months down the line and this bug still has not been rectified. This week I spoke to inibuilds directly who are aware of the cursor mode issue but have no control over it, saying itâs something sim-side that Asobo will need to fix.
As this thread doesnât appear to have made any of the intended works snapshots shared by Asobo, Iâm worried that it could be a very long time more before the issue is finally rectified, which is crazy given how many people must fly using the Xbox controller alone. I have submitted a ticket on Zendesk regarding this earlier in the week also.
Now not even the EFB can be operated with the Virtual Cursor. EFB is Unusable With the Virtual Cursor Not only the developers are not fixing the game for players without a mouse, itâs actually regressing and is becoming completely unusable as a whole.
Itâs remarkable how long that has actually been the case as well, that you cannot use the EFB unless you have a mouse. So very frustrating how they continue to ignore the cursor mode issues under the guise the bug has been logged. Looking forward to a fix in SU7.
The EFB itself used to work, âonlyâ the search fields didnât. But now the cursor basically has no click authority. You canât click on any UI element in the EFB. This is completely unacceptable.
FS24/xCloud/Gamepad
Still an ongoing problem to be sure. FWIW, yesterday I bit the bullet and tried a workaround that I found in another thread, duplicating the default âGamepadâ controller profile, then modifying that with my custom keybindings. Took more than an hour to get it straightened out of course. The good news is that it restored EFB access with the virtual cursor, and as well, I can now actually utilize the Search fields by using the D-pad. That said, use of the cursor mode without AP engaged does still mess up the flight. Not a trivial issue.
