Brief description of the issue:
Happened for a week, probably after 1.14.5 update or since the day server went down on 3/12. I have no problem entering the game, and I can enter flight the first time every time I enter the game. I can fly for hours without issue as long as I stay in-flight. But when I quit the flight to main menu and click “fly” in world map again, one second later it CTD, independent of choice of locations. I can re-enter the game and start ONE new flight.

Detail steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

I tried: removed all community mods, removed manual cache, re-built rolling cache, set priority to low, disconnected xbox controller. I also tried running the game offline. None of them solves it.

Given that I can fly once without problem, and CTD only if I click “fly” again, I suspect software issue.

I’ve been dealing with this same issue! CTD anytime I try to load a 2nd flight without re-booting the game. Along with the stutter performance and drop in FPS. They really messed things up with 1.14.5.0 update! I’m extra bitter considering I finally dropped the $$$ on an ultrawide gaming monitor as a birthday gift to myself. Came home, set it up and loaded the game and “hey what do ya know! A new update!!!”… Been trouble shooting the performance issues ever since. Cannot get the game to run smooth at all anymore. Needless to say I’m losing my patience with the development of this game. We sure paid a lot of money to be beta testers for an incomplete game!

Thanks for posting btw. Just tested it a few more times with and without dev mode and it seems to be consistent. Sent a report to Zendesk as well! I hope they figure it out soon.

Hi there,

The issue seems to be related to AI (for me at least).
With AI disabled it doesn’t happen, with offline AI enabled and set at 100 it does.
Not sure about other AI settings.

Hopefully this will help ASOBO solve the problem.

Very nice! Thanks so much for pin pointing the issue. Worked on my end and I was also getting CTD every time I’d try and load a flight with any Carenado aircraft. It seemed to have fixed that as well!.. Ok Asobo your turn! Fix the dang thing!.. I miss the traffic lol

Just updated to 1.14.6.0. Looks like Asobo hasn’t fixed this bug…

Prior to SIM Update 3, I would average one CTD a month. All the Asobo updates and issues were just an “opportunity” to fly. I have more than five hundred flight hours invested in this sim. The TBM930 is the best plane in the bunch!

I decided to turn “AI Traffic Offline” on just prior to SIM 3 Update. Fly one flight and come back to the World Map menu. Selected a second flight and the sim would CTD. Repeat! Repeat! Repeat!

Removed all my mods, except for the Honeycomb bridge. Repeat! CTD! Repeat! CTD!

Turned “AI Traffic” off. Completed ten successful flights with no CTDs.

Turned “AI Traffic Offline” back on. One successful flight. Went back to the World Map and selected a second flight. Hit the fly button and I am back to my wife’s picture on my desktop screen (CTD).

Yes, mine does if I have AI traffic turned up too much, I try to have GA up more than Commercial as I fly GA, If I remember I have Commercial at about 5 or 10ish and GA at about 35ish.

The only time I had CTD on AI traffic was when I incorrectly set up my icao_generic aircrafts. But then again I never use offline AI, so when I fixed the icao_generic issue, I never had any CTD when on Live Traffic.

It was doing it to me for a LONG time. I ended up disabling the default file and creating a new one from scratch, just as an ongoing fun project. I’ve only got about 70 flight plans set up as of yet, compared to over 60,000 on the default, but the sim is impeccably stable now.

Yes, CRJ owners can cause a CTD at will using the AI traffic option.

same problem here , Traffic cause CTD for me , especially when I just landing on airport… so very frustrating and whatever the plane.

Look at the dates of this thread. I to found out that the AI is indeed the cause of my ctd’s why can’t they fix it? We paid good money and I though that Microsoft would at least address such a well known issue dating what back a year now but brag about fixing issues that do not even concern most of us. They had no trouble making AI work in all the other flight simulators dating back for me 1995.

I haven’t suffered a CTD for months, AI offline traffic is set to 15% all runs fine.
Then today I started messing around, tried the Live Traffic option which isn’t very good in my opinion (the sim shows a “generic a330” where the actual flight would be completed by a 20-30 seat prop)

So I turned the traffic setting back to Offline AI and upped the scaler to 25%… First flight after this BAM, CTD!
Need I say more…
