AI traffic in MSFS 2024

Please make AI traffic working correct in MSFS 2024, otherwise you will break the immersion again…

Fellow simmers you are free to add your awkward MSFS situations as well in this topic!

There’s been little talk of any changes to AI traffic to be honest. We obviously know there will be more realistic liveries and models, but little to nothing on any behavioural changes. I’d be happy enough with a return to FSX behaviour, it wasn’t perfect, but it worked a lot better than what we have now.

Enough already of the break dancing aircraft on the Apron.

I’m sure that a new simulator designed and built from scratch will result in much better AI behaviour, but we will have to wait and see. I certainly hope that 2004 will not be just a tweaked 2020.

You can’t stop the power of dance! :man_dancing:

Seriously though, the break dancing AI was fixed sometime last year.

Kinda looks like the aircraft version of a human centipede… :upside_down_face:

Saw it just last week so it’s not fixed for sure.

I could of sworn Martial said one time on a dev q/a the traffic in 2020 was still using fsx code, So hopefully for fs2024 its been rewritten, and hopefully ai Helicopters aswell

That looks terrible, there is no need to tailgate.

If you’re on PC and haven’t tried it yet, use “AIGround” from fs.to and see what you think.

The FSX control of AI aircraft was a LOT better than we see in MSFS. If they used FSX code in MSFS2020, they must have missed a few lines when they went CTRL-C and CTRL-V…because its WAY worse!

They probably tried to alter the FSX code to work with real time traffic data. Which didn’t work out as intended.

What’s great about a whole new version is that you can actually rebuild parts with a clean slate without having to worry about killing other functionality.

I’m also hopeful for better ATC as they have shown over the past few years that they are willing to adapt and leave the development of key parts of the simulation to partner companies that are more specialised on the topic. Fingers crossed.

That’s funny, nobody told my install…

What are you using for the traffic, default, AIG etc?

I’m just using the default.
It’s hard enough keeping all my planes and scenery up to date, managing all that I just don’t have time for with 3rd party AI.

Fair enough. I’m going to try using default for a few days and see what happens. :+1:

I was only commenting that I still see the break dancing planes occasionally, even though Asobo has said they’ve fixed the issue. I haven’t researched it at all, it’s not really on my list of issues I care that much about. It’s annoying, but,… eh.

I’d LOVE to see AI aircraft be better, I’d love to see them integrate AIG airplanes and more liveries and make it more accurate to what’s actually in the air for “live” traffic, and even add some interesting other traffic if they can do it well. With almost zero effort from me. I hate seeing A320’s land at my local GA airport when it’s really a Citation or Global Challenger. That actually seems better now, though.

On the other hand, I super want better ATC, I don’t want to get blocked out from landing at airports I approach, but, then again, just like in real life, ATC gets busy and sometimes it’s hard to reach them, so I like that being replicated. When I’m taking off from a class C or Class B airport VFR, I want to be able to get a squawk code. But I’m mostly concerned with having good enough performance to fly, accurate aircraft systems, and accurate airport layouts (no 90 foot tall GA T-hangars for instance), accurate taxiway layouts, no lights in the middle of aprons, stuff like that.

But, great AI traffic would be awesome.

The ‘fix’ just made them rotate slower. Only really noticeable if they’re stuck fir more than a couple minutes.

That would be a legal nightmare.

Microsoft needs permission from the airlines and aircraft manufacturers to represent them in the sim.

Plus AIG doesn’t own some of those aircraft models and liveries, they just have permission to distribute them.

I’ve honestly never seen AI do that in the almost 4 years since this sim released.

I’ve seen them overlap on runways, that usually happens if a scenery dev forgets to put a hold short point for the runway on the taxiway.

Actually, they’ve been working with AIG for a year or two now, and Jorg has been pursuing airline licensing since before the release of 2020. They’ve already said there’s going to be big changes in 2024.
