AIG AI Manager and Traffic Controller for MSFS

Since this morning my AIM closes immediately after checking for update. Anyone had this? How do I fix it?

Wow, what an insanely complex application to use. Is this gonna be addressed in a future update? I cannot make much sense of it. I want AI traffic to work but this just takes too much time, I thought the whole idea behind this “one-click installer” was to be able to easily select and install liveries and flightplans? Instead you can’t select multiple airlines (or I haven’t figured out how), it prompts to manually download a file from the internet, most of which are 400 - 500 mb zipped files (that is a lot of hard drive space per airline!), it just too much work.

Simple traffic is available for people who want something really easy to install but its not as good as this one which is free and just requires a bit of time to install.

Is it really 400 / 500 mb per airline? That’s insane, I just checked this “simple traffic”, it only has 2.3 GB hard drive space as requirement. Downloading these 400 / 500 mb files already takes decades (and its not because of my internet connection). I remember using world of AI in FS2004 times, that was so easy and quick, I was expecting something similar…

Depending on the airline:

Smaller once around 5-10 MB
Bigger one can get up to 400MB, because of the different liveries and models

Simple Traffic only has liveries (and maybe offline flightplans), so it takes up a lot less space than AIG which also has those two things, but also includes aircraft models which add to the amount of space taken up.

I have been complaining about the slow AI speed for almost a year. I opened topic under Q&A section, I opened topics for the general discussion just to get their attention a little bit more. I asked nothing more than just one functionality. The functionality that I believe would be easy to implement. Just change the AI Traffic speed when they touchdowned to the runway so that we don’t end up with go arounds. Yet neither I have heard anything related to this nor any improvements.

Having said that, I really think that the AI Traffic is being ignored. I haven’t seen nothing different than what we had in FSX. I appreciate all the efforts that the dev team or whoever is making this amazing product and I’m truly grateful for what we have after waiting for so long that’s for sure. But I’m getting really sad, because simple things keep being ignored while there are so many functionalities being added. It’s been more than a year and did we really have to wait for the SU8 for the bug fixes that makes me think. Now I am not even sure if the problems related to the AI Traffic will be addressed or not.

Anyways, thank you again for AIG for the mod. Loving it, using it despite the many problems that are not caused by them. Many thanks one more time for all the effort that you’ve put into this.

AIG ai traffic is awesome but I feel is a FPS/performance killer, specially in big airports where lot of different planes are injected.

I remember AIG ai traffic models didnt have a big performance impact in fsx. It would be great if they could improve performance in MSFS.

Using a suitable value for traffic through the slider helps in performance for big airports.

99% is the default. I am using 50 - 70% depending on airport.

Installing all 1200+ will be around 23GB as some have reported. So not that big in my opinion.

Simple traffic only needs at most 3 liveries per airline since they only have 3 default Asobo models to work with. AIG have a lot more plane models.

instead of a % of total traffic, would it be possible to have a max # of plane at the same time?
Guess it would result in more steady FPS drop?

The lights must be fixed for use under IVAO or VATSIM on ALL models. The navigation lights for example only work once the models have left the ground.

skip manual download doesn’t skip for me - am I doing something wrong?

For multiple downloads you need to press CTRL+click on each successive airline that you want (then also select the checkbox “skip manual downloads”); finally press “bulk” download button at the bottom, and it should automatically download all the airlines you had previously selected.

Yes I read that later, so far every airline I tried needs a manual download so I assume I need to download everything one by one for a decent result.

Watch this guy on YouTube explaining what to do. I’ve managed to get this AI working and it’s great. Nice to see a 320,747,737.. ect landing and looking like a detailed model.

some observations after watching this video - (AIG as been working fine for me since launch - no issues unlike many others who have posted here):

  1. Unclear why he links to the deep install file location within packages as that isn’t necessary - it can and does work fine in the “normal” or standard user created Community folder - While it works his way, that might be why people are getting the “too long file path name” issues (and broken installs)
  2. He also has odd settings (counter to what AIG recommends):
  • the problem with his approach (real-time/live), it creates the issue of the sim picking random liveries at airports - in his example, you get EasyJet at Denver which would never happen
  • He has ground aircraft density at max..meaning all gates will be occupied and this will cause issues (as well as the random livery issue).

And unfortunately too much storage space that is used … a shame otherwise great thing.

I have seen plenty of individual airports using 2GB of space or more. My AIG install uses about 8GB and includes almost all the carriers that fly from Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world. I think its pretty reasonable for what it does and the quality of the models.

Thanks for the input. What settings do you have yours set too? You stated he’s got “real time/live” and set to max. Be interesting to compare your method to others.
