AIG AI Manager and Traffic Controller for MSFS

In case people here aren’t aware of it already, you should try AI Companion (freeware) from the AIG Forum, a very interesting utility that lets one view your AI fleet, airport schedule, airline routes etc and brings a traffic limiter so you can limit your FPS impact or make busy airports more usable.

No it doesn’t change any default files, unless you specifically instruct it to. Upon launching AIG Manager it will complain that it wants to change something in MSFS (specifically it wants to rename \Official\OneStore\fs-base-ai-traffic\scenery\world\traffic\trafficAircraft.bgl) but you may decline and AIG will still be working just fine. In that case it’s recommended that you disable AI traffic from within game settings.

Doesn’t seem to be a hard requirement though, as people have been using AIG with both Live and offline AI traffic while trafficAircraft.bgl obviously remains intact.

ps: I also suggest to take a backup of the said bgl file, just in case (you may accidentally press Yes in AIG’s prompt when launching or you may accidentally delete the file via AIG’s long list of airlines)

Yep I noticed the same, I wished the traffic injection would work after deletion, that would be a great workaround…

Cheers Zeppos … fast response - I’ve duly backed up the .bgl as advised.

Thanks for recommending this!!

Perfect for someone like me that enjoys sitting at an airport and watching aircraft coming and going.

Love being able to track a flight and then watch it come in for a landing.

No worries, hope it helps you.
AI Companion has come a long way, I was using it back in the FSX days and at that time VAS memory was the major problem (FSX being a 32-bit app).
The AI limiter part of it is amazing - you can configure max number of AI planes overall, max number of AI planes on ground, etc.
We don’t have the same problems with MSFS but in severely saturated airports FPS is an issue.

Can the Traffic Controller inject real life traffic?

Just downloaded this, freaking awesome…
Thank you so much for posting!!

My AI-Manager is just stuck on Crawl Online Data for the past 30 minutes. I just started it and it did an automatic update. Is it safe to force close it and try running it again. the program has always taken a bit of time to start but never this long before.

Hi! Be sure about placing (not clicking) the mouse over the AI-Manager icon on task bar; there are sure other windows behind, wich are asking to press “ok” … As pressed, it will continue loading.

We are all aware that because some “255 characters” issue, the app is like throwing those error windows.

I don´t know how to fix that, but still the traffic is showing. Hard part, happened to be, is that for each airline-package there are individual error windows. One must sit there for hours upon the mouse and press ok, and ok, and ok …

I have exactly the same since a week ago. No solution so far.

If I remember correctly deleting the zip files in AIG_AIManager\Resources should solve the problem. Better make a backup as I’m not 100% sure.

Move your Community and Official folders higher up the file structure. Mine are at the same level as Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe in the top Packages folder. Then amend the Packages location in Usercfg.opt to reflect that change.

The result is that the addresses for the AIG files in Community become so much shorter that they overcome the 256 character problem and your liveries are visible again.

Do not be tempted to move the two folders outside the main WPsystem folder otherwise you will need to do a full reinstall.

Thanks Sledge,

Yes, I take your suggestion and finally the liveries are visible again. Simple and fast solution.

Glad it worked for you. The AIG Forum approach was to move the folders out into something like C:\MSFS2000 which works well apart from the 90GB reinstall!

According to Microsoft you can move the folders this way and the program will recognise that the files exist and won’t reinstall them. Except that in reality it doesn’t recognise them . . . . .

Is anyone else having trouble installing Aer Lingus (specifically the ASL Ireland 737-300)? It has been sitting at 0% for a while now, and there are no prompts asking me to download it elsewhere, etc

This is working great on vatsim for me, I’m using ivao vmr as a fall back and simple traffic, my skies are alive in vatsim mainly due to this!

Yes I love the amount of traffic taking off especially at Gatwick , waiting in line but trying to land there is a nightmare it’s a constant go around unless you ignore atc and just land anyway, bit of an immersion killer but i have not tried this other mod people are mentioning
I like to keep my traffic at full as it fills up a lot of the gates, in the days of FSX I know UT2 had on the top menu a facility to clear approach, now that would be great if it could be added/implemented in the traffic controller?

I had this issue as I installed a few liveries before and I mistakenly deleted /couldn’t find my AIG-beta-oci and I tried to reinstall aer lingus and a few other liveries and it wasn’t having it just hung there with no pop up to install manually
It was driving me nuts , in the end I found the cause
The new AIG-beta-oci file had these liveries installed , so I had to go into that file , sim objects, airplanes, AIG , go to the b737 file and if you see aer lingus in there , if it is delete the contents and then try to reinstall aer lingus again
It worked for me on that airline, easyJet, air Europa, delta and American Airlines , just to add I had this same problem with the easyJet Embraer 190 so had to delete that content too
Not at my pc at the moment so can’t check the exact path but the bottom line is that the files are already wrongly installed well that was in my case for each variable aircraft so I just deleted the content and I was able to reinstall all the liveries I couldn’t before
Try it and see , but be careful as it says don’t amend any files once you open up the AIG-beta-oci folder but I did it and it’s all working like a dream now
The other alternative is uninstall the whole lot and a fresh install , ok if you only have a few liveries but not if you have about 50 installed like I have
Hope it works for you but be careful

Air Traffic Controller load time is insanely long (15mins), I got about 100 airlines installed. Does that sound normal?
