Returning to flight sims after many years absence… Wow how things have changed!
I want to give Air Hauler 2 a try but is it compatible with the 40th Anniversary edition? Steam only seem to offer it for FSX.
I assume you are referring here to the Dovetail Games version on Steam. I think this version only works with FSX and is not compatible with MSFS 2020.

The Just Flight store sells the version which is compatible with MSFS 2020. It might also be sold on other stores too. Don’t know to be honest.
Bear in mind that if you are thinking of buying the upcoming MSFS 2024 this addon may or may not work with it.
Air Hauler 2 is now only one of quite a few career addon options. Before buying AH2 you might want to look at these too 
Thanks for that, I had found the “Just Flight” store and was going to get it from there but I wasn’t sure AH2 would be compatible. I am after something that doesn’t require me to use Vatsim and allows to fly short hops in small aircraft. I don’t really want to be flying transatlantic in airliners. AH2 seemed to fit the bill but I am open to any other similar suggestions.
I was a member of a VA called Milair many years ago, really enjoyed that, lots of short hops all over Europe, cant find that now so I suppose it must have folded.
You are very welcome. Sometimes Just Flight have sales too and if you are prepared to wait a bit you might get it a bit cheaper.
Regarding other suggestions, honestly, there are quite a few other options now. Neofly comes to mind and is free but there are a few others too. I seem to recall a few threads in the forum here which discuss a few alternatives. Hopefully a ‘search’ on the forum should easily find these threads for you
I decided to risk it and bought AH2,I am pleased to say it is compatible with the Steam version of MSFS40.
