The A320’s checklist includes the “Engine Bleed”, but does not highlight the buttons option to click in the cockpit. This was introduced in SU5 and has not been fixed yet. This would make it very difficult for people who are new to the sim trying to start and keep the thing flying as they would have no idea where the engine bleed system is unless they look hard and from what I can tell the engine bleed system is already on when entering the aircraft as when you click them it says off. So they need to be set to off to make the check list viable.
If the checklist window is having issues with highlighting the specific area it’s referring to, you can look at the photo of the overhead panel below.
The one that I overlaid with the red box and arrow are the engine bleed switches. If these don’t have the “OFF” lights in white on them, then they’re good to go. But these are generally left in the ON position as is without the white “OFF” lights visible anyway. So it’s just a matter of just looking up to make sure they’re still in the good position. I hope this helps.
The check list doesn’t even highlight the switches to show you where the engine bleed is. It use to before SU5. While I agree for us that know the sim and the plane itself, those that do not and do not know the aircraft will unfort be left to ask is it on or is off since it doesn’t say on (Which of course it shouldn’t.). But the check list is there for a reason to get familiar with the aircraft and if it doesn’t highlight, which I will stress did highlight before SU5, which therefore makes it a bug as it’s part of the checklist.
Yeah, I guess that makes sense… That’s why I posted that image where the engine bleed switches are. Just so people can see where they are in case the highlight function in the checklist doesn’t work.
That’s interesting as engine bleed switches are normally not part of any “Normal Procedure” checklist. There is no clicking of the switches at all. They are essentially “bad day switches” in that, as @Neo4316 stated, they are left in the ON position unless there is an issue or specific procedure which calls for turning them off. No need to check the switches so it shouldn’t be part of the checklist.
Bleed air will never be disabled unless there was an emergency of some sort.
Here is an explanation of why.
Disregard this for the 787. It dosen’t have a bleed air system.
