That’s litteraly the thing that saves the most fuel in the whole plane, my guy, i’m not mentioning it just to bore you to death
That’s fine for when I dive deeper after more experience flying and getting used to the systems, I can’t even figure out how to enter in the SQUAWK thingymajig yet lol. Anyway, I’ll just hit the refuel key if I’m low for now. I just wanted to try out this sim as I purchased Game Pass for £1 for a month (it seems to reset to that price if you don’t sub for a while), then I might get the Premium Delux Ultra Mega Platinum Shiny Edition.
But is the effect of the Cost Index already modeled in the default A320? That’s a question I was asking myself
Also I am surprised to hear that the A320 in the sim apparently consumes more fuel than it should as I have always arrived at my destinations with more fuel left than planned (I also use SimBrief but everything converted to Lbs instead of Kg).
I have to mention that I don’t use the integrated (and very buggy) Vnav but manually select a climb rate of about 1800-2000 feet/min to cruising altitude. Vnav will do like 4000-6000 fpm… lol
I also doubt the cost index functionality it seems off.
Open climb works fine so far and managed vnav is getting much better if you have the dev version of the A320nx it’s so much better and I think TOD was added few hours ago but I haven’t tested it yet.
No problem.
Just to give you a head start about what that is, it’s a setting that tells the computer “how much in a hurry you are”. For instance, with a lower CI (cost index) the accelerations are slower, the ramp ups are smoother, etc. You’ll get the cost index in the INIT page. It goes from 0 to 50 if I remember correctly, default being 35 on the A320.
It’s in fact the “economy mode” so that airlines can choose if their flights are slow to save gas or fast to get there on time. You can have a company that asks their pilots to fly a CI=16 on normal but because of delays on departure and having a tight arrival schedule for gate availability, for instance, a pilot may chose a CI=45 so that the departure delays my be resorbed.
Check out this guy, he’s a real A-320 pilot that’ll teach you how to navigate the computer and what stuff means. Even if you don’t learn it right now, you’ll know it exists. And his entire channel is great, too.
Hi, what do you mean by dev version? The community made mod?
Yes, there is a stable version and a development version that frequently gets updated.
Thanks for the explanation. I have been watching a ton of YouTube vids and have seen a couple from this creator. There’s a lot to take in, but I’ll get there.
Ok, thanks! That was all news to me, lol. How do I get access to dev version?
Another thing is the textures are broken now but here is a fix just open the layout.json in the A320nx folder with notepad and paste.
Yeah, that is the community made improvement mod, not an official dev version. But thanks anyway!
So far, so good (so what?). Almost 3 hours in and no issue, so it looks like it was that the Engine Generator button must NOT show “Off” on the actual button. A lot of people seem to be having the issue of the A320 cutting out, so hopefully this will help.
I noticed that even though I set it correctly on the checklist (the button should show “Fault”), after starting the engines the buttons state “Off” and needs to be selected.
After a 7 hour 15 minute flight I landed somewhat successfully. AP tried to kill me whilst descending and nose-dived, but managed to recover. On final approach I was told to do a go around, but I decided to just go through the aircraft that was hogging the runway and just clipped through it.
Also I had to cheat and refill the fuel, no way I would have made it otherwise.
FPS went down quite a bit at JFK, but that may possibly be from running a flight for over 7 hours.
What if MS fixes the A320 and jumps ahead of the dev version … can we have two A320s for that reason?
But engines what???
