Airbus Thrustmaster TQ with Reverse axis range Jan 2021 update

Hello pilots,

I have been searching the forums and reading dated threads on how to assign the functions to the throttle quadrant. So far, FS2020 sees the whole axis range as forward thrust. So, when you idle the thrust levers on the quadrant, the sim sees about 40% forward thrust.

Currently, there has been no known workaround or official support. Has this been rectified? All threads on the matter stop around 10/2020.

Curious how others have gotten along.

Okay, first thing first, It’s recommended you to do a full calibration process. You can look at the guide here.

Also, if you already had a profile created in your throttle quadrant, you have to delete the profiles and get them reset to default.

After doing that, the throttle should go to Throttle Engine Axis (0-100%). Even on IDLE, the sim will receive about 20% thrust. But by changing the neutral point and the sensitivity curve, you can place that IDLE quadrant to the IDLE detent in the sim. And everything else under it goes to Reverse.

If you’re flying the A320, I recommend you to download and install the A32NX Experimental FBW version. They have a custom throttle configuration that fits well with the Thrustmaster TCA Quadrant. If you’re using that, you can set the sensitivity curve to be completely linear at 0,0,0. And use the throttle configuration file from that mod to assign the appropriate power level coming from the quadrant and assign them to the right detents.

I am using the A32NX FBW beta release! Okay, can you elaborate a little further about where to get the custom throttle config and where to put it?

Here’s a guide in their github page on how to find it and set it up. Just make sure you use the experimental custom fbw version from their latest installer. This won’t work on Stable or Development version.

I did the following tweeks to get the Thrustmaster Airbus TCA Quadrant work correctly, using the A32NX “Unstable Master Branch Build (with custom FBW)”.
To find the “ThrottleConfiguration.ini” file, you must allow the Win10 Explorer to show “hidden files” or whatever it is called in english.
In my german Win10 version it is changed under “Ordneroptionen” / “Ansicht” and then allow showing of “Geschützte Systemdateien” and also “Versteckte Dateien und Ordner”
I found the “ThrottleConfiguration.ini” file under:

“C:\Users\ -the PC owner \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\packages\a32nx\work”.
Then:

  1. Reset the MS FS A320 TCA Quadrant control sensitivity to “0” values (=linear response)

  2. Do a new calibration of the TCA Quadrant, pressing both L & R red side buttons in all 5 positions (incl. full reverse position!)

  3. Enter slightly different values in the “ThrottleConfiguration.ini” file:
    Now, the Thrustmaster Airbus Quadrant detents should match the detents in the simulator.

Log = true

Enabled = true

ReverseOnAxis = true

ReverseIdle = true

DetentDeadZone = 2.5

DetentReverseFull = -1.00

DetentReverseIdle = -0.70

DetentIdle = -0.42

DetentClimb = 0.00

DetentFlexMct = 0.53

DetentTakeOffGoAround = 1.00

These values did the trick! Thanks all for your assistance and follow-up!

Clear skies!
