Aircraft carrier landings

Wouldn’t it be cool if Microsoft-Asobo can create an Aircraft Carrier for us to land on

definitely, i was kinda surprised there isn’t any carrier to land for at the moment

Well, there are no fighters among the default aircraft either.

I think they’ve got other priorities than developing a Carrier, even though there’s no aircraft that can use it…

If you want Carrier ops, head to DCS.

Saying that, one of the Level-D sims I’ve used had a carrier parked in the middle of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong. I can even confirm that it’s possible to do a touch & go on it in a 777.

i was able to do it with blender but i have trouble convert it to AI to make it move but it’s working

You probably need to attach it to worldscript? From looking at the FAUNA in dev mode, it seems there is some kind of path that you can setup.

i was pointed to fsx AIBTC ( still reading the doc lol ) ill try to look into that ; thanks for the info

there are actually quite a few Aircraft Carriers in this sim, all outfitted with and using an up-to-date Klingon cloaking device…

I understand your point of view and agree with some of it - however, aircraft carriers have a long tradition in Microsoft Flight Simulators.

  • FS5 had a static aircraft carrier off Hawaii (USS Carl Vinson) which you could land on with a Cessna 172. It had no arrestor cables or catapults, but you could taxi to the elevators and they worked, so you could taxi through the hangar deck and back up to the flight deck. Was quite a treat at the time.
  • Then in FS2004 there was the USS Kitty Hawk west of San Francisco. Also no carrier support.
  • In FSX with the Acceleration pack you got several static carriers and several dynamic ones which moved on preset routes. The latter had carrier support like arrestor cables and catapults, as well navaids.

Last not least: early carriers had no arrestor cables and not everything that ever landed on aircraft carriers in real life had arrestor hooks either or was even designed to land there.

So if you can launch a flight of B25 bombers as well as land a C130 with 13t of cargo on a carrier deck and take off again, it should be no problem with a Grand Caravan, and would be interesting to see if you can do it with the Citation. The only thing you’d need would be for the carrier to be actually moving forward at 25-30kn. Then you could land the Savage Cub almost like a helicopter
The fact that you wouldn’t be allowed to do it IRL only makes it more interesting for me to try

If you want to land on a carrier, the San Diego scenery available in the marketplace does have a landable carrier as part of the package

Latin VFR KSAN has a landable USS MIdway. It’s limited, but fun and difficult to boot. I’ve landed on it many times now in smaller aircraft.
