This is a special Flight Event centred around Aircraft Carrier Operations and the F18 Hornet.
We will be rendezvousing at the airport at Key Largo, ICAO Code 07FA in our F18 Navy Hornets and flying a sortie out to the passing US Navy aircraft carreir, being escorted by 5 support ships.
On reaching the carrier, we will take it in turns to fly approaches and attempt to land ouy jets on the deck of the carrier. As well, we will be making good use of the catapult systems (2 are available) to launch us off the carrier, using our afterburners to get us that extra propulsion to clear the deck and the ocean below.
Should be some spectacular crashes during this sortie no doubt, and we will see who has the most successful landings during this exercise. Takeoffs should be far less challenging yet you should still be prepared for the unexpected.
