This is a thread for the few mods for the default aircraft that add certain things or remove them; such as removing wheel fairings or adding a bushkit variation to an already existing aircraft, etc.
I’d love to see a mod for the A320 that adds any other engine variants, or a mod for the 747-8 that adds the shorter hump for the freighter
I don’t think it’s as simple as adding another engine variant. Because you would need to change the performance of the engines, the sound, how their thrust work, their fuel consumption, their aerodynamics and flight behaviour.
There’s a lot of programming involved to get them right and they would technically be a separate aircraft.
Well was not specifically talking on payware … just ANY model builder.
Lots of freeware builders out there for models but lacking the knowledge for custom cockpits. On this freighter model there is no new cockpit needed. So thats why i am surprised that no model builder “just” shortened the upper deck
Lots of freeware paintjobs for the freighter … but all for the unrealistic long upper deck.
Still, even if it’s free… It does feel underwhelming when you spent weeks on an external model for free and your download counter is still in single digits.
It’s also not just slapping a new model in there too, even if the cockpit is the same. As I mentioned in my first reply here, there’s a lot of things to consider if you want an accurate variant. The flight dynamics are going to be different on the 747-F due to the wider wings and shorter hump, then weight distribution due to the cargo configuration, etc etc.
It’s still a lot of effort, and it doesn’t feel as rewarding if not many people are interested in it. But I suppose you can still hope.
I disagree … lots of downloads of the freighter paint jobs … so therefore i am sure there will be no “single digit download counters “ for a correct freighter model.
Yes small details in flight dynamics … but not even needed to be adjusted for 99% of the users i think. How realistic is an “UPS 747-8F” with a long upper deck anyway ?? And despite that long upper deck …. 747-8 freighter paintjobs combined on flightsim.to are downloaded 10000+ times !!! All Visuals ( and unrealistic also ) … the UPS one alone 4000+ times
So if people do not care on that visual UNrealism … who would care on exact flight dynamisch because of a shortened upper deck ?
If “unrealistic” paintjobs are downloaded 10000+ times … a correct visual freighter MODEL would be downloaded even more ( i will be 10001 because i never downloaded the long upper deck paintjob ).
So not sure why you claim “no reward“ and “single digit download counters”. Did you check how many downloads of unrealistic paintjobs at all before you wrote this ?
Sorry… Maybe I am overthinking this and only seeing from one point of view.
Even looking at flightsim.to there’s only 270 liveries for the 747, and only 73 of them are cargo liveries. Compare it to the A320, that has 1436 liveries and another 941 liveries configured for the A32NX mod.
Looking at those numbers does seem to create an illusion that there are disproportionately more A320 users than the 747s, and even less when it comes to 747 cargo liveries.
I myself uninstall every single aircraft and leaving only the A320 installed since I never really interested in flying any other aircraft. I guess I incorrectly assumed that there’s not that many cargo flier that creating a custom model for it seems to be a worthwhile effort.
look back at fsx, we had the entire 747 series with new models from posky, they didnt care about the expense, why should anyone if its a passion project.
Dont look at the data. if people want a freighter they’d love to fly a freighter
