The first update to the Black Square Caravan a day or two ago has among it’s patch notes “Found an undocumented feature that can be used to improve the appearance of external lighting in MSFS 2024, making them more visible in daylight. Finally!” Wonder if Carenado is using that.
Oh thats interesting
From the latest SU5 Beta release notes:
Can’t say I’ve noticed any change but I haven’t been looking for it.
Nav lights and strobes are still not fixed in latest update. In daylight they’re basically invisible, and you only start to see them near dusk, and even then, they’re barely noticeable. This is for both traffic and the aircraft you are flying. This is nowhere close to realistic. Attention to the lighting team… please fix this, it has been (501) days since first reported.
I would say this is a fix for a different issue related to traffic aircraft only, not to your aircraft. I understand that traffic had no lights at all during day time. They have added lights but now traffic aircraft suffer of the same issue than reported in this report: lights are barely visible during day time.
Any update on this since Dec 2025?
NAV and TAXI Lights are ON, at least on some of the AI planes, but they are very dim (we need clouds and something like 6 a.m. to see them in April). No Logo lights are visible for me.
It’s actually all quite realistic. Aircraft external lights are barely visibible during daytime IRL, escpecially Nav lights.
Hope Asobo doesn’t destroy it by some stupid fix.
NAV lights might not, but beacons, wig-wags and collision lights certainly do. So thank you for your opinion but back to the discussion again
.
The livestream mentioned that daytime visibility of aircraft external lights was fixed in SU3 Bugs MSFS2024 Lifetime, but that’s not what we’re seeing in the sim.
Strobes and nav lights are still barely visible in daylight and only faintly show at dusk. This has been reported since November 23, 2024… roughly 500 days ago, so it’s disappointing to see it still not addressed.
That’s not really accurate. In real life, strobes are absolutely visible in daylight… they’re designed to be high-intensity anti-collision lights. Nav lights are a bit more subtle, sure, but strobes should be clearly noticeable even in bright conditions. I spend many hrs. a week at airports, they are definitely noticeable and bright.
Right now, in the sim, they’re far dimmer (almost invisible) than they should be. It does make me wonder if this is being tested in real flight scenarios by the developers, because it’s something you’d notice almost immediately and say that doesn’t look right. Hard to miss this if you’re actually flying in the sim.
