Aircraft model disappears after going 1 mile from camera. Any fixes?

This may be part of the game, but it’s frustrating to do cinematographic shots over hills when your plane disappears after going 1 mile away (which isn’t far for a plane, a jet can travel that in 5-10 seconds).

I understand LOD changing as it goes further away, but disappearing altogether at just 1-2miles away seems a bit pointless to me. I’ve tried max settings and it makes no difference really.

Is there any way to make it so your plane doesn’t fade into another dimension and dissolve?

I’d REALLY love if you could.

Maybe this should be changed in further updates if not. I’d love to have the option to see my plane for 10-20miles. Just really breaks immersion seeing your plane dissolve like dust.

i second that :v:

Agreed, but even a a mile or so, how many Pixels on your screen would that plane occupy.

Maybe, a possible solution is to break the 100% accurate simulation of plane size with distance, and have planes appear a little bigger than they would be in Real Life, to compensate for the low resolution of the computer screen.

Another, user subjective SLIDER !!!

You may have to manually adjust the LOD levels in the aircraft’s model.cfg that you wish to operate. There may be a performance impact, but probably not that much, unless there’s a bunch of the same aircraft on the screen during multiplayer.

Do take a backup before changing anything though of course.

Interesting ideas, I think just allow people to zoom in more.

I’ve actually noticed winglights turning off when you get closer to other airplanes now.

Cool. I didn’t think of that. Will try w/backup.

No success with that.

Most planes I couldn’t even find a model.cfg.

Seems like a really bad solution.

The Porter seems to disassemble itself when you get close sometimes, usually on the ground. I’ve seen it where the wings, and tail disappear entirely.

Wow! Well, they said they improved the code for multiplayer (to be able to race close together)… but we all know what rewriting code does… Change one line, and 10 other lines of code are affected. I guess the best thing to do is to report to zendesk to have this issue logged. I’m not to bothered with the lights dissappearing at close range, but it shouldn’t… guess that might just be a lod issue as well.
