Can you check whether you have ‘ATC Enforce Flight Plan’ turned on in your assistance settings?

If it is turned OFF, ATC can overrule your runway choice and place you on the (different) active runway. If you turn it ON you will ignore ATC and always spawn wherever you choose

Interestingly, on the SU2 beta I’ve been using the flight planner and charts now that they work on Xbox. I have tried it with and without enforce ATC flight plan and the option doesn’t seem to make a difference. Last night I was flying to HDAM and had runway 9 RNAV in my flight plan with enforce turned on. As I neared the airport and started to receive clearance, the flight plan in my EFB changed to ILS runway 27 as ATC announced that this is what they wanted me to do

That’s strange, that makes it sound as if MSFS2024 doesn’t honour the ‘ON’ setting. Were you in career mode or freeflight?

Either that or it only applies to the departure airport and not the destination, but the wording in the description makes it sound like it should apply to both.

Free flight and it was the destination airport runway that it didn’t honour. Though when I think about it, I’ve also had flights (again free flight) where I specified the take-off runway and it ignored me and gave me a different one when I asked for IFR clearance. I always fly gate to gate so haven’t tried the whole runway spawn scenario but I would imagine that it will be using the same logic

If ATC enforce flight plan is enabled, then you spawn at the runway you’ve selected (correct) but the ATC instruct you to take off from the runway based on the wind (incorrect). Maybe same issue happens for the destination airport.

For me, it is changing the flight plan mid-flight to suit what ATC want. So with enforce turned on, it’s not that the flight plan enforces what ATC say, it’s that ATC enforces what the flight plan is. Last time it happened I actually had the route open on the EFB and saw it change it as soon as I heard them give me approach clearance

On the subject of changing the runways, it’s difficult with the ATC window now being broken but any time I have tried to ask ATC to change runway they have just restated the previously cleared runway when in 2020 they would have just allowed it and given you what you asked for

This has happened before SU2 Beta Update…. Just never reported the issue before …. I have to end flight and start flight numerous times for it to choose the right runway and sometimes it still doesn’t work

Has happened to me sometimes-even spawning a few miles from any runway at all.
