Aircraft telemetry Simconnect issues in main menu

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

MSFS2024 generates extreme aircraft telemetry output via Simconnect in the main menus (e.g. free flight, aircraft selection). Most severe when loading a flight. This causes violent movements when using a motion simulator or force feedback device.
The sim should not send aircraft telemetry via Simconnect from the main menus or while loading a flight.

As far as I can see, at least the following SimVars causing problems (particularly the acceleration variables):
PLANE PITCH DEGREES, PLANE BANK DEGREES, PLANE HEADING DEGREES, ROTATION ACCELERATION BODY X, ROTATION ACCELERATION BODY Y, ROTATION ACCELERATION BODY Z, ACCELERATION BODY X, ACCELERATION BODY Y, ACCELERATION BODY Z, AIRCRAFT WIND X, AIRCRAFT WIND Y, AIRCRAFT WIND Z, AIRSPEED INDICATED.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

  1. Go to the free flight menu and start a flight.
  2. Inspect the simvars mentioned above in the menus and while loading flight.

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• Just want to emphasize that the violent movements can be terrifying. It’s like the newly-initialized plane was dropped onto the tarmac and you’re already in it. The player wouldn’t expect any movement prior to “ready to fly” and this creates a pretty physically dangerous situation.

This issue is even worse in SU1 Beta! Especially right after loading MSFS 2024, before clicking “Start” on the start screen. This is dangerous and could lead to injuries (motion rig / force feedback). Hopefully this will be fixed in the release version of SU1.

can you edit the title to something more ominous? it’s going to get ignored. maybe like one of these gpt generated clickbait:

“Critical Bug Alert: Game Physics Issue Could Endanger Motion Sim Users”
“Major Safety Concern: Unexpected Motion Linked to SimConnect Bug”
“Dev Attention Needed: SimConnect Bug Causes Dangerous Motion Sim Behaviors”
“Urgent: SimConnect Bug Producing Hazardous Outcomes in Motion Rigs”
“Potential Liability: Dangerous Glitch Found in Latest Build”

• Yes

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:
• I don`t use a full motion rig, but experience the same issue with both my haptic pad and my Moza AB9 FFB joystick base.

Please remove the telemetry output from the main menu, and enable it when in the plane.

Having the same problem with MSFS in SU1 Beta. FFB stick and DOF reality motion rig doing insane motions in start menus. Dangerous and surely not good for the devices.

With the SRS app I sometimes lose telemetry data even though it shows it is connected to MSFS2024. I have to restart the whole computer for it to work again.

Occurs when MSFS crashes and when I restart motion telemetry is not established.

Now that Sim update beta 1 has been released this problem has gotten a lot worse! It’s indeed become somewhat frightening and in current state will lead to injuries or braking stuff. There should be an official warning going out if they do not fix this asap!! I am using SRS motion SW, there is no need to receive any telemtry data in main menu, and during loading in flight.

DRSM now has the workaround mentioned in this comment to prevent motion while not in an aircraft

Easy :face_with_peeking_eye:

the same fix is coming soon to vpforce telemffb

Moderator Edit:

I’m having the same problem with my Moza AB9 base. My cockpit shook so much that one of the joysticks fell off and broke! This problem occurred with the SU1. It’s quite impressive how much the AB9 base can shake; it’s dangerous. I can’t imagine how this can happen with a motion platform!
Furthermore, I’ve noticed that it seems to be related to the last aircraft selected. For example, for a while now, I’ve selected the Cessna 172 before exiting Flight Simulator 2024, and I haven’t had the problem since. I often use the Robinson R66 helicopter; I doubt the problem is with that aircraft.

I also report increase of this issue in MSFS2024 after SU1 (SimShaker software and Buttkicker hardware).

I am not seeing this any longer in SU2 Beta with SimHaptic & Buttkicker.

I am having this as well but with SU2 it got much less when the main menu shows up. In SU1 my rig (DOF H3) was shaking violently. Still when loading into missions with helicopters specifically, the rig is doing weird moves when the mission is loading. Very annoying.

And I’m seeing it a lot worse in su2 beta! My dof reality h6 got literally crazy yesterday and was stuck after at a weird position. Had to start over everything again, rig, srs, msfs. THIS IS INDEE DANGEROUS!!!

I haven’t tried SU2 yet but up until SU1 I always have to disable my Buttkicker to avoid it going crazy.
