Airport of the day - MSFS Discord

Hi! I mainly hang out in the Msfs discord, but there’s a cool initiative I wanted to share with you guys!

A Discord user had a great idea to consolidate the spread MSFS community, the idea being: Every 24 hours at 12pm GMT, the bot in discord, picks a new Airport of the Day and opens up a dedicated voice channel for the event in the discord server. This so every one has a fresh and random airport to fly to/from.

The idea:

  • Hop into the voice channel if you want, there is also a text channel for those who dont want to speak.
  • Align yourselves to the same multiplayer server (There is a how to guide in the discord channel)
  • Fly around the same airport
  • Meet other pilots who are flying there too

Don’t be shy! Jump into the voice channel, say hello, and see who else is flying in. You might discover a new favorite airport and make some new flight sim friends along the way.

For those itching to get into the discord server now, the link to join is: Microsoft Flight Simulator

In an effort to mitigate trolling one needs to be rank 3 to join a voice channel. You get points for each message, but only for 1 message per minute. If adhere by this, it takes 28 minutes to achieve rank 3

That’s enough yapping, here is how the daily posts look:

Great idea. You should write the event start time in Zulu - like in METAR and aviation in general.

There is no start or end date for Airport of the Day - it just simply refreshes at a certain time, so you can hop in whenever.

You’re right, I misread it earlier - I was referring to the reset time when the new Airport of the Day is selected.

Been making a conscious effort to visit this airport at least once each day, and if possible, do something silly in that airport’s nation’s flag carrying airline

I won’t pretend maintenance is happy with me, but any landing you can walk away from, right?
