Though the picture tells the tale, the calculations seem to be reversed. Currently, Groundspeed increases with a headwind and decreases with a tailwind. This is true everywhere I’ve flown in the sim. C-172 w/Live WX.
I may be wrong, but I believe the wind arrow on the map shows where the wind blows from, not to.
Try to add a wind indicator to the MFD with PFD->WIND and you’ll see.
The wind arrow on the MFD is backwards (reported multiple times). Bring up the wind arrow on the PFD - click the PDD button & follow the menu to activate it - for a more accurate picture.
Yeah PFD reports correct wind direction
An example … 30kt southerly headwind. Everything is correct TAS 117, GS 87 … except the arrow on the right screen confusing me immensely:
Ahh, that makes sense. The only ‘real’ G1000 I’ve flown was a bare bones version in a DA-40 and all my actual time in the C-172 is with steam gauges. Thanks for the clarification folks!
I think the speed relationship in OP’s view is correct.
In OP’s view, 118KT is your True Air Speed, and you have a headwind, so your speed (or to some degree Ground Speed) is less than 118 which in this case, seems to be ~112KT
I double checked the one in TBM930 (G3000) between PFD & MFD and it looks alright though.
