Exactly! I am pretty sure what I am seeing in 2024 at airports are textures from a 2020 airport textures addon that is showing streaming to my sim. I can’t tell for sure unless I can turn it off.
Sure. Ask for a refund, like others are doing, and go back to 2020.
I never bought anything in the marketplace in 2020. And with totally vanilla MSFS 2024 Deluxe Premium I have nothing but problems on Xbox X. Almost half of planes (every heavy aircraft) cause CTD.
My concern is now is the imported 2020 content embedded into 2024 already so now its in is there even such a thing as a clean install of 2024.
FYI i am loading into 24 without issue now so hopefully we can see some more feedback/fix on the 2020 content issues.
I don’t know if this should worry me or not, about half my 2020 purchases are not in 2024
To think all these could have been avoided if ms and Asobo listened to the community concerns about streamed content and had stuck to the 2020 storage solution with better servers, and the 2024 engine improvements. Things could have been much nicer.
Don’t know about others but I never had much problems in loading and unloading the contents to and from my storage devices in 2020. What the problem was their, let’s be honest, s**ty server / networking / download manager which resulted in painfully slow downloads after an world / sim update. What we wanted was kind of a built in addon linker capability for enabling and disabling addons without sim restart, and ability to use community folder in different drive. Instead MS / Asobo went too radical. If they needed to meet ve things to the cloud they could have done it little by little. With user feedback on each iteration.
Streaming issues aside, I think 2024 can be a very good sim. It’s just a shame that MS / Asobo chose the cloud streaming hill to die on.
I really don’t know, yet, if the streaming is a problem.
At least here, geographically, I’m not having server issues seen in other parts of the world.
For me, thus far, the streaming isn’t the issue.
The issue is the disabling of the disable function within My Library. They need to get that into our hands ASAP. We need to be able to turn these 2020 add-ons off.
All well and good but just let user choose what they want in there sim. Thanks for update
Yes they just decided to stream everything, fine. But they didn’t put much ux related thought after that.
Right, I think we are talking at cross purposes.
We are saying the same thing, essentially.
If they weren’t streaming this we’d have the option to install it.
Since they are streaming this, we don’t.
The foolishness was in making the enabled streaming the default rather than making the disabled streaming the default.
We should have had to go into My Library and enabled our content rather than it being enabled by default with no way to disable it.
Let me add something else that is blowing my mind right now.
If any of you saw the Marketplace keynote address during SimExpo, you may recall that the presenter stated that after marketplace content was tested (by whom I don’t recall; Microsoft marketplace staff?) and determined to be okay, the developer of said content would have to give the go ahead to push it to the Marketplace for 2024.
Well, over on a thread related to the delays to PMDG’s latest updates still not making it to the 2020 Marketplace. Mathias from PMDG said that their 737s have been pushed to the 2024 Marketplace without their authorization. PMDG has already determined their 737 and 777 have significant issues in 2024 and would not want them released in 2024 this way.
So the mismanagement of this thing is legion.
I haven’t installed 2024 yet but I know I have 178 uninstall items in 2020 content manager(a lot are the stupid MS liveries) including problematic items from 2020. Some of them, even pay ware I wish I didn’t even have to see as uninstalled at all, in the last game…
Well, I do not want to be too rough but boy, so many things are NOT ready and these supposed to be new look is the same in the air as in 202o. Yes, I can look at the flowers but honestly I want to rather see realistic sky and ground from flight perspective.
I know things will get fixed as a time goes by but for now it is sure a mess.
If you have the patience (it would be worth mustering it), I would wait until they implement the ability to disable the 2020 Marketplace content.
Those of us with significant MP content are the worst for this, right now.
Do I feel you here.
I have airports imported from FS2020 but when I start in some of these airports, it is the original airport fs20204 that loads and not the add-on. Does anyone have the same problem?
To be fair, I’ve not tried more than two airports that I have 2020 3rd party versions for.
Are you seeing this for all of them?
Trust me your better off. My 2020 marketplace airports are loading in with no buildings . I have just got to the point where I just want a fresh vanilla
I have 2 sets of add-ons controlling airport lighting and another 2 controling airport tarmac textures. The reason for this i picked them up on the sale to see what ones were best in 2020. Not knowing in 2024 I wasn’t able to have control what one I want activated.
Unless someone can tell me 1 cancels out the other.
Very true. Either someone has messed up and forgot to set the “wait for approval” tag, or they just listen far too easily to the few people who said “where my MSFS2020, you said it would be there”. Downside with the marketplace governing this is it will likely be a far more cumbersome process to disable things than it needs to be.
What we need is the reverse “disable all” feature for FS2020 add ons and the ability to maybe select one or two we want to try out, nothing more. A simple interface with a list and checkbox next to each add on with an APPLY button at the bottom of the page would suffice. It doesn’t need over engineering. It may take days using the marketplace to sort this out if we have to go into each add on individually to disable it.
It’s a major issue, but at least if PMDG are aware of it then something may get done. We really need all FS2020 add ons disabled in fs2024 right now. It’s also a breach of what we were sold - a vanilla FS2024 sim, which we just don’t have the option of using right now.
