Unless I’m missing something, it seems that there is no way to direct the tug to where you wish to release from tow e.g. within proximity of a specific ridge or area of likely convection etc
Many airfields have predefined towing routes for gliders being towed. I would like to see a possibility to define the route the AI towing plane takes. Also to select the altitude to release the rope. At the moment the towing plane is signaling to release the rope always at the same altitude which appears to be 1500 meters AMSL in most cases.
Also I would like to see the possibility to choose the Robin 400 as towing plane. In Switzerland that is the most common towing plane. I’ve actually never seen any one use an C172 for glider towing even though I’m sure it’s possible.
Further more it should be possible to define the rope length.
Kind Regards,
Gerhard
Good points.Voted
I managed to make the Robin a tow plane by editing the FlightSim.0 section of the aircraft.cfg file (change IsTowPlane=0 to 1) but sadly it takes off and promptly stalls.
Thank you for that tip. I guess the ai-pilot has not done the type rating yet
This guy here found a way : Robin DR400 Remo I-ITBB for Microsoft Flight Simulator | MSFS
A bug would also need to be addressed : when the c172 tow plane retracts flaps, it descends too much before going up again.
Thanks, I’ll certainly give that a go.
I would add that a tail dragger as a tow plane would be more close to reality for North-America as a lot a piper pawnee are used to tow gliders. Sometime cessna tail draggers too.
Exactly, that is very important
