Almost everything is broken again in VR!

As title says VR is total mess again in SU3 beta. They are going 1 step forward and 3 steps back. Now some of these bugs will either be fixed or ignored again. This is literally going nowhere…

“Both eyes are rendering different image” is back, especially with the mouse cursor. (double cursor) Peripherals not working at the same time. (rudder and throttle) Clarity degraded even if 100 render scale with TAA. When you go back to menu by hitting ESC, it’s on the top left corner rendered so strangely, so you cannot use menu again. You cannot do anything basicly.

Can confirm the issue of screen being rendered in top left of the screen when hitting ESC or entering VR when still in world map screen, making it impossible to use unless reverting back to 2D mode.

Can confirm these issues too.

Also can confirm.

Im only in VR in msfs2020 and it sometimes still feels like a beta. So why you are complaining, is beyond me. This piece of program was not ready for release at all. All these things they will (hopefully) fix in the future, should have been there day one.

We’re not complaining, we’re testing a beta build of SU3.
We post our findings and if other users have the same issue then it’s likely a software problem, so we go ahead and file a bug report.
If we don’t, then it’s less likely these problems will be fixed.

VR is indeed a bit of a mess in this build. Extremely low FPS (RdrThread issues) at handcrafted airports and overall worse performance doesn’t help either.

I can play sim update 2 but the beta 3 is a step back for VR. I have massive stutters and I have a 4090 so it is unplayable. But it is a beta so I think they need our feedback about it. Complaining is over and done with - so stop please. Lets help the team get this fixed with our good feedback. In addition I have that black rectangle back in the middle of the screen like when the sim first was released. I went back to SU2

I’m actually finding VR in SU3 is the smoothest and best experience I have to date (using a 4090).

Only issue is the menu when I hit escape. Everything else is working amazing

Stable with 45 frames with no stutters using the Quest 3 and VD. I have downloaded most stuff to my HDD and disabled rc

The problem here is that every sim update introduces new VR bugs and when they release the full update in the end of the beta some of these bugs are always ignored. That’s what it is all about. Nobody likes complaining and we are all aware this is beta but that’s so obvious VR is not being tested enough. There is always something new which doesn’t work as it should be in new sim updates. I also went back to SU2 since i’m done with helping them which makes no sense.

I did not encounter any vr bugs so far apart from the really bad performance when on the ground at airports. When airborne performance is really smooth and visuals are great.

regarding airport fps, I’m not sure if it’s related to third party airports, as I have mostly addon airports for germany. I also tried to deactivate the built-in airports, so that they don’t conflict with the thirdparty ones. But each time I start the sim they are activated again, so not sure if that even has an effect.

I have also had the top left menu but cannot remember how I got it. Without that though there are menu issues. Firstly, not a problem but may help source what is, the vr screens when not flying are smaller and have grainy text. Really weirdly though is in the VR graphics page, my resolution is only showing as 1500x1500 ish at 100% instead of 3000x3000ish but actually flying it is giving full resolution so probably just a menu issue and could be linked to the smaller menus??

I can also confirm that there has been an increase in CPU RDR time of about 25-30% but could be a linear 4-5 ms. On 1.4.18.0 I was getting typically CPU RDR frame time of 12-15ms most of the time in the UK. With the download of 1.4.20.0 (SU2) it jumped it up to 17-22/23 with the appropriate FPS drop and still there with SU3 Beta. From HW64info it appears to be a false CPU bottleneck because I was able to verify in 2D that I was CPU limited whilst only utilising around 60% on the HIGHEST thread, average ustilisation figure much lower than this and only using an average 0f 60 watts so it isn’t using the resources it has on the CPU even though there’s plenty of surplus power, performance and temperature available. This is all without touching the system settings, just the update.

I have now dropped the TLOD to 175 and filtering to 8 from 16 to pretty much get the frames back but to denostrate the spare capacity, I’m only burning around 400 watts at the wall for the entire system including monitor, router, battery charging for the headset, printer etc etc so probably more like 300w for the actual box contents and the RX9070XT which is still stock can eat that on its own.

Still VR has still come a very long way in msfs 2024 and I can live with all this whilst getting cheap flying but does appear to be something that needs a fix between SU2 Beta and SU2 release and still there in SU3 Beta!

Hi
Same with me

Can confirm also

Setting screen is randomly out of focus in vr, other than the missing controls issue which isn’t vr related things are definitely going in the right direction

Can confirm the issue with rendering in the topleft when not flying.

Can also confirm that disabled airports ( in my case EHAM ) are streamed again after restart.

Has this been fixed in 1.5.2.0 ?
I didn’t see it mentioned in the release notes and I haven’t had a chance to check yet.

I didn’t check it either but since it’s not mentioned in release notes, i doubt it’s fixed.

It has been fixed!

Since this beta started, I’m now getting a one-second stutter about twice a minute on every flight. This stutter affects both the visuals and the sound. I’ve had microstutters before, but this is different. It occurs with all aircraft I’ve tried, in all situations (on the ground, in the air, landing etc) and does not seem to be related to the VRAM getting low.

Perhaps not coincidentally, I’m getting similar in the latest FS2020 beta, but I’ll have to investigate further.

[EDIT - this should be a general reply . I clicked the wrong button!]
