ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
The altitude bug behavior is inconsistent across aircraft. In the majority of stock aircraft, the command SET ALTITUDE BUG is used in conjunction with PLUS and MINUS to select the altitude bug and then subsequently set the altitude bug.
In a few of the stock aircraft (the 737 and 787 being the examples I can think of off the top of my head), SET ALTITUDE BUG and PLUS/MINUS do nothing. Instead, these aircraft seem to use aircraft specific commands (IE: ALT SEL INCREASE/ALT SEL DECREASE for the 737).
Setting the altitude is a common feature in all aircraft, and therefore should use a common set of commands across all aircraft. By not using a common set of commands to set the altitude, this breaks functionality on any controller that uses a single knob for incrementing or decrementing various autopilot bugs, of which there are many.
The bug is not with the controllers themselves - it is with certain aircraft using non-standard commands. While it is certainly fine to have specific commands for what would be an individual knob on an aircraft to accommodate those with controllers that have individual knobs (such as the Winwing 3N PAP MAG), the traditional/standard commands (like the standard combo of SET ALTITUDE BUG and PLUS/MINUS) should still function as well across all aircraft - otherwise a lot of users spent a lot of money on useless hardware with single knob functionality.
FREQUENCY OF ISSUE
How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?
Every Time
REPRODUCTION STEPS
Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:
-
Start simulator and choose one of the aircraft that uses a non-standard altitude bug setting mechanism (such as the 737).
-
Start a flight and turn on the autopilot.
-
Attempt to adjust the altitude bug with the knob on the controller.
YOUR SETTINGS
If the issue still occurs with no mods and add-ons, please continue to report your issue. If not, please move this post to the User Support Hub.
What peripherals are you using, if relevant: Honeycomb Bravo, however this bug will affect any controller that uses a single knob to adjust multiple bugs, such as the Saitek Pro Flight Multipanel, the Thrustmaster Boeing Throttle Quadrant, Knobster, etc.
