Hi,
I am having issues with setting my altitude, after selecting the altitude I want to fly it doesn’t show on my screen, even after take off and selecting the AP it still doesn’t begin to climb, my GPS and AP work fine. As I have both MSFS shop and Steam version it’s the same on both, I use a Thrustmaster T-1600 HOTAS any help would be appreciated, thank you.

It would help to know which plane you are flying, but typically your AP should be in a mode that would control vertical speed, such as VS or FLC. You would then set the rate of climb, or speed respectively to intercept the altitude you have set.
You might want to flesh that out with a few details … like what aircraft and how do you set the AP.
You write my GPS and AP work fine but then you say it doesn’t hold altitude or climb as you expect.

Sorry Guys new to this, I’m flying a Cessna 172, it does hold it’s which is 320 ft but even though I have set it to 1500 it just stays at the setting which was set 320ft, #I’ve tried turning both AP & altitude off/on twice but makes no difference. I haven’t tried any other aircraft as yet.
Is this the Skyhawk G1000 or the Skyhawk with round dial instruments and the GNS 430/530?
G1000 requires you to select an AP Mode like FLC which will climb to a new altitude based on your current airspeed.
Setting a new altitude does not mean the aircraft will automatically transition to that altitude. Consider what you’ve set as the target. To get there you then have to select a transition mode, usually either FLC/IAS or VS.. After setting the mode you have to set the transition parameter. In the case of FLC and IAS modes this will be the airspeed that you wish to transition at. For VS mode it will be the vertical speed rate for the transition, plus for climbs, negative for descents.
So set target altitude first, then select transition mode, then select transition parameter. You will need to adjust engine power accordingly for the climb or descent too.

What in your process did you change? Since you haven’t mentioned one specifically it makes me think you weren’t using one of those transition modes.
Didn’t change a thing, switched off then tried again and it was fine, so I’m not sure what was going on.
