I just used the EFB to plan a flight, file it with ATC and push it to the avionics of the aircraft.
That is great!
What is not great, is this:
After multiple years of having to change this on every single flight, I am tired of having to do so. I want to start C&D every-single-time I plan a flight. Full Stop.
I don’t want to start on runway already running.
Is there a means to set this up to have a C&D start the default?
If not, why not?!
Start from the gate/ramp like everyone else?
When you use the EFB to file a flight plan and push it to the sim, it automatically selects the runway.
Sure, I can change it, I already know that. I don’t want to do that every-single-time I fly.
That’s my point.
Spawn at the gate and then use EFB to create and file a flight plan. It won’t move you to runway.
Okay, I will give that a try.
I’m so used to doing all the flight planning prior to entering the sim world due to quirks with 2020’s ATC and certain aircraft.

If you click on the text box that says “Runway - 1” it will drop down giving you the option of starting in the air, starting on the runway or starting cold and dark.
An off shoot of this is that by placing the mouse cursor on the ground while making the flight in the world map you can place a plane ANYWHERE!! If there weren’t trees in my driveway I could place a plane there. I tried this but the plane “crashed,” and then the sim went into a loop trying to get the plane placed on the ground. I ultimately went through Task Manager to exit the sim.
I know all this.
I’m talking about setting this up in a setting such that every time I set up a flight plan it just picks a random parking spot for me at a GA airport or an appropriate gate at a large airport.
I tire of the added process of having to do this every time myself. Career mode, for example, starts you on the ramp. Why can’t we have that functionality added to the flight planning system?
I’ve been trying to get into a different workflow vs. 2020 (Even though I can’t yet get through an actual startup without a CTD
).
What I’m trying to do now.
- Create full flight plan on the flight planner website, save.
- Load into the departure airport on the world map, only selecting the airport and gate.
- Click Fly
- Go to the EFB and load the flight plan.
- Send it to ATC
- Send it to Avionics
I’ll need a few more attempts to see how this works in practice, but basically I’m avoiding all use of the world map in creating a route.
