AMD Drivers Version 22.3.1 WHQL

Just a note to mention that I installed the latest AMD drivers yesterday and that everything seems fine with MSFS 2020 in VR.
Everything is as smooth as it was with SU8.

I tried the new RSR feature but it does not work with MSFS - yet that is.

I got the green check mark on indicating it was working (RT5700XT) and it looked terrible.

I couldn’t get it working however we already have FSR implemented from using the OpenXR Toolkit so there’s no need for RSR in the sim. AMD even states to use FSR if it’s available over RSR.

Plus after updating to this new driver I started getting CTD’s so I’m back on 2021.12.1.

Well, this is interesting.
Were you using VR?

Using the latest driver 22.3.1 with no issues with VR. Not tried activating RSR because the 6900xt is already beast.

Question regarding the driver. I have a 6900 xt and I’m getting a glitch when using any driver after 2021.12.1 on Windows 10 at 4K resolution. When you open “task view” mode are you getting this glitch? Look at the right half of the image. Notice how the background picture is not displaying properly. Any thoughts how to fix it?

NOTE: this isn’t my picture but it’s exactly what I’m seeing. I uninstalled the latest driver so I can’t take this screenshot myself at the moment but it’s the main reason I’m not using the newer drivers.

i got the same, blackscreen with the reverb g2 and CTD with this driver.
Back to 22.2.3 which works good.

I got a weird error at the end of installation, even using a clean install. Same error after several tries. Uninstaller does not appear in Apps or Features nor Add/Remove programs. Other than that, the driver works :man_shrugging:

Just tried the new driver and MSFS with my 6800XT and G2 headset, each time I started a flight MSFS just stopped responding while loading. Task manager showed no CPU usage. I changed aircraft to make sure it wasn’t the latest version of the H145 helicopter I was using, going to the Stearman and the same thing happened. I had to end the program both times. Rolled the driver back to 21.12.1, which was what I was using before and now everything’s working fine again.

AMD drivers really are a pain.

I have a 6900XT, and just installed the latest Radeon driver. I enabled RSR, set full screen mode, and downsized my resolution from native 4K to 1440P. I didn’t notice an iota of difference in frame rates, which normally is around 45 for me with ultra-everything. So I just put everything back to native 4K.

But something in the back of my mind tells me that MSFS is not a true full screen application, and that full screen mode is a borderless window - which might explain why RSR gave no boost. I could be wrong on that, but it’s something I remember reading about with P3D and FSX a few years ago

Yeah. It’s not full screen exclusive. This is partly due to Microsoft’s recommendation to switch the presentation mode from ‘hardware legacy flip’ to ‘hardware independent flip’ for better task switching and overlay compatibility. As far as I’m aware DX12 doesn’t even provide a true full screen exclusive mode.

There is a problem with MSFS2020 now
If you add any software or plug-ins, it will be easy to run the game CTD
At this time, you only need to delete the hidden cache record file and re-run the game to return to normal
I always It’s all done like this
 didn’t find any major problems
and my current AMD chip driver version is also the latest

Just to share feedback, unfortunately its a negative experience.

Installed Radeon 22.3.1 and experience CTDs when WMR is active. No WMR active and MSFS seems to be ok. Tried “latest Runtime” option on and off in OpenXR Developer tool, no difference still CTD.

Rolled back to my previous GPU driver 21.11.3 and CTDs are gone.

6900XT, HP G2
Intel 10850K, z490 mobo,
32g 3600mhz, cl16 memory.

I think you might have a point there. I did have couple CTDs while loading up DCS, but brushed it off.
Also my saved custom overclock setting in Adrenalin always gone back to default.
I am going back to the earlier version
