I have been looking around for a new GPU for my new Ryzen build. It has been a rough time thanks to the shortage in the GPU market and I have been looking everywhere for an RTX Card. They are sold out before they even reach the stores and it bothers me a lot. So I am now trying to change my own mind to go for a Radeon card instead and found the 6800XT and 900XT. I am about to pull the trigger on one of them and I think the 6900XT will fit well into my build. They seem pretty good IMO after having my dreams crushed and canât get a 3080TI or 3090.
AMD is at the moment working on FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) and I think this will push the card forward now after the XBOX version release. I even wrote a mail to AMD about adding FS to their list for FSR support. what is your thoughts about this?
FS channels on twitch and YT have a big banner âpowered by Nvidiaâ so itâll be hard to me to see FSR implemented.
Btw as an owner of 6900, I hope theyâll implement it
raster performance is awesome, like 3090 at half price
Bad:
drivers: worse than I can imagine (I had nvidia before)
noise: fans spin at 100% every time you alt-tab a game without any reason (louder than my old 1080ti blower)
no RT support (only with Metro Exodus EE performance is acceptable - 21:9 2k@ultra settings@60fps - but with a 3080 you can have more than 120fps AND DLSS)
VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD PERFORMANCE on mining (thatâs why you can buy a 6900 at the street price without problems while itâs impossible to buy a 3080)
For FS itâs a good GPU and with FSR it could be a GREAT GPU.
Of course, if an nvidia 3080 had been available I would not have bought the 6900.
So itâs a good choice if you canât buy anything other than AMD GPUs.
