AMD Ryzen 9 7900x - Why?

Hi aviators,

Why is the AMD Ryzen 9 7900x recommended instead of an X3D processor?

As far as I know, for gaming, processors with a lot of cache (like X3D) are the best. Currently, the price of 7800X3D is too high but the 7900x now is really cheaper than the X3D ones, do you think 7900x will be a one option with a RTX4070 Super?

On the other hand, the Ryzen 9 7900x it´s as ideal system according to MSFS 2024 specifications.

Thank you so uch.

I just upgraded to the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Game runs stable and I my GPU achieves the set FR limit with ease the most of the time in VR.
I was surprised by the performance boost compared to the 7800X3D.

But this does not answer your question. There are some good YouTube videos out about performance comparison with the 7800X3D on FS2020. So even with the FS2024 I would go for the X3D variant.

Sure, but here the problem is the price both of them, 7900x cost around 390€ and 7800x3d around 640€. Lately the price of 7800x3d has increased wildly

Because of the high demands. I was lucky that I ordered it right away at my usual vendor, when it first became available. So the price was good and I could literally sell my 7800X3D to the same price I paid for the 9800X3D, which is nuts.
If you can wait, wait a couple of weeks, the price will settle again.

Probably because whoever wrote that doesn’t know what x3D is
I dunno, I’m only half kidding. The team also didn’t seem to know what DirectStorage is and they also don’t seem to know what VR is, so it’s hard to say.

I am encouraged by this, thanks for posting this. I have a 9800x3d in box, waiting to be built when I get back home. I was concerned about the x3d performance. This will be paired with a 4080 FE and x670E. As long as I get 30-35 fps pre FG on 4k, I will be happy.

For the OP - I am currently flying on a 7950x and 3090 - I get about 30 fps in LAX, Ultra 1440p, and sometimes 40 in other some major airports with the Fenix. I havent tinkered with Bios settings or core parking, as its not my computer. Hope that helps.

Although not new, but the video offers a good explanation, why the X3D chips are especially great for gaming.
