AMD Software: Adrenalin 23.9.2 Discussion

Please use this thread to discuss the AMD Software: Adrenalin Driver version 23.9.2.

Starting with this driver, there are separate versions for RDNA GPUs and the older Polaris & Vega GPUs.

For RDNA GPUs:

For Polaris & Vega GPUs:

  • New Game Support

    • Lies of P
    • Party Animals
    • The Crew™ Motorfest
  • Additional SDK Support (RDNA only)

  • New AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+ Game Support (RDNA only)

    • AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 23.9.2 introduces Anti-Lag+ support for Starfield, Witcher 3, ELDEN RING and Immortal of Aveum™.
      • Up to 45% decrease in latency across select titles when AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+ is on, using AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™️ 23.9.2 on the Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX GPU in select titles, versus when AMD Radeon Anti-Lag+ is off.RS-597
    • AMD Radeon™ Anti-Lag+ features an onscreen overlay that can be used to display the system latency of supported games. When Anti-Lag+ is enabled, the onscreen overlay can be toggled on using ALT+SHIFT+L hotkey.
      • Toggling the hotkey will first enable the status indicator of Anti-Lag+ (a white triangle), and then display latency in ms or number of frames.
      • To compare the difference between Anti-Lag+ and Anti-Lag, hold the DEL key. To compare the difference between Anti-Lag+ On and Off, hold the right CTRL key.
      • Use the ALT+SHIFT+F hotkey to monitor FPS when Anti-Lag or Anti-Lag+ is enabled in the game.

Fixed Issues

  • Application crash may be observed while playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with Vulkan® API set on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX. (RDNA only)
  • GPU Clock may be artificially limited to 2700 MHz when performing manual tuning on Radeon™ RX 7700 XT and RX 7800 XT graphics. (RDNA only)
  • Display may not reach correct brightness with certain games on select SAMSUNG™ FreeSync Premium Pro monitors or TVs with local dimming setting enabled. (RDNA only)
  • Application crash or driver timeout may be observed while playing SMITE® on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon™ RX 7900 XTX. (RDNA only)
  • Intermittent application crash or driver timeout may be observed while playing F1® 23 on some AMD Graphics Products, such as the Radeon™ RX 7800 XT. (RDNA only)

Known Issues

  • Performance Metrics Overlay may report N/A for FPS on various games.
  • Audio may intermittently become out of sync with video when recording from AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition with AV1 codec. (RDNA only)
  • The display may intermittently freeze after changing the encoding format while streaming select games using AMD Link. Users experiencing this issue are suggested to select the desired encode format before streaming as a temporary workaround. (RDNA only)

Important Notes

  • Factory Reset has been temporarily disabled as a precautionary measure while we address isolated installation issues that have been reported during PC upgrades. Users may use AMD Cleanup Utility as a temporary option.
  • Users pairing an RDNA based graphics product with either Polaris or Vega based graphics product are recommended to use the AMD Auto-Detect and Install Tool.

I found it to be JUNK. It was causing me to CTD randomly, and especially while sitting in the main menu. I went back to the 23.8.x build and went back to normal, with no crashes. And had to use DDU to get the new build out.

Working fine here. Even running fine including using VR. I see no difference going from 23.9.1 to 23.9.2

Also ok here, dx12. Need to test dx11

OK here on DX12 also, but with FSR2.

I’ve been working flawlessly on 23.9.1 with a 7900XTX and just updated to 23.9.2 using the Adrenalin software

Having major dramas. MSFS just crashes at various points in the startup. Also can’t start Starfield.

Tried to go back to 23.9.1 but still problems and may have to resort to what @CapnCarl4445 said above in terms of using DDU to get the new build out.

I used the AMD Cleanup Utility in safe mode and reinstalled my previously working drivers ( 23.9.1) but still having the same problems.

Hopefully I will get better results with DDU

Would you mind posting a link to the download for the driver version you have gone back to or specify the exact version.

Most appreciated!
