AFMF 2.1 looks like a step forwards in smoothness and image stability for me

Yep also now testing FMF2.1 and I’m positively surprised so far.
Did not use it until now because I found there was far too much artifacts/noise. But this new version seems to be a noticeable improvement

EDIT:
after more testing (together with the SU1 FS2024 update today) I am really impressed by FMF2.1
It even handles small instruments very well. Another very hard situation was the digital displays (virtual buttons) of the F18, they are also good now in my opinion.
Will definitely leave it active for now.

Does anyone who uses multiple addons like GSX, axis and ohs, mobiflight etc have any tips how to get AFMF to consistently recognise that msfs is running? Most of the time AFMF is picking up one of the child processes started by msfs and so it doesn’t think a DX11/12 app is running. GSX seems to fool it even when started entirely separately from the sim

You should be able to set up a gaming profile in the Adrenalin driver for MSFS 2024 and set AFMF on in the profile (and any other parameters). Adrenalin will recognize when the sim is stared and adjust all parameters to what you have in the profile - you don’t need to do anything.

I use these profiles for all of my games.

This driver fixes HEVC-10bit when using Virtual Desktop, finally…

I do have a manual profile for msfs in the adrenaline software and was previously using the auto generated one but both suffer the same issue. Sometimes it works ok even with the child processes spawned by the msfs exe but other times it fails to recognise at DX11/12 app and doesn’t work. Typically in the ALT-R adrenaline overlay I will see the msfs logo as the active game but it will show the path to the Fenix a320 exe, or Axis and Ohs or couatl64 (GSX Pro)

I would recommend an uninstall via DDU and a reinstall of the Adrenalin driver.

That’s how I originally installed 25.3.1

Don’t think I’ve seen this before - you can open a support ticket via the Adrenalin software (click on the bug in the top right).

This doesn’t work as once MSFS starts a child process again it’ll switch the .exe despite you having set it to be specifically MSFS’s. It’s pretty annoying and makes AFMF a pain to use in practice

Are you clicking on another app and taking focus away from the sim? AFMF will stop if the game doesn’t have focus. If you click on another app and then click back on the sim AFMF should restart automatically.

I actually found that tabbing away and back to MSFS is what triggers the issue. Made it all the way to the main menu with AFMF active, tabbed out to do flight planning and tabbed back in, and got “Unsupported Graphics API” in Adrenalin.

Luckily there is a backup solution for framegen: Optiscaler, which takes the inputs the game sends to DLSS and converts them into FSR3.1/4 including frame generation. Having AFMF on top of it is nice, but again is just not consistent in if it wants to apply correctly or not.

I made a little bit of a breakthrough (but not really): it seems like AFMF will usually apply correctly, but only on the first time the game is launched per reboot. On all following starts of the game, AFMF will not apply correctly.

FSR3.1 is coming in su2

Has this been verified by MS/Asobo somewhere?

The most recent Developer Q&A Livestream (Friday, March 14th) this was announced/confirmed by Martial Bossard, Asobo Executive Producer.

I am using a RX 7900XT and updated yesterday to the 25.3.1 driver … which seems to be that latest which the AMD software offered to me (not 25.3.2).

I did get “reliable” crashes in FS2024 after a few minutes of “play” … where I was not even flying but browsing the marketplace and tuning my settings.

This happened 3 times … basically “in a row” … and so I decided to download and install the old 24.12 driver … which works without any crashes on my system.
