AMD software has gone

Hi - I’m a novice when it comes to computers. Today I was updating my drivers using the AMD Radeon software app and there was an error. Afterwards I realized the software app had disappeared from computer. How do I get this back? Is it as simple as downloading it from the AMD website or do I need to uninstall my drivers first and then reinstall? Google is a bot confusing on the topic. Any help and ill be grateful. Thanks

I would have thought you can just download the software app from AMD and personally as you had an issue id delete the graphics drivers and just download them again.

You can just download and run the installer from the AMD website, during the installation it will ask if you want to remove your previous driver first.

Mine disappeared a long time ago after an error while updating drivers. I eventually figured out that it’s still there, just impossible to find. The only way I can open it is Control + R, which still works fine.

So basically download the app and an option to uninstall old driver and install new one? I don’t have to mess around with uninstallation files/software

Just curious how you’re trying to access it. I right-click on empty area on my Window screen. The Radeon software shows at the top of the list (above “View,” “Sort by,” “Refresh,” etc.

It shows as “AMD Radeon Software.”

“So basically download the app and an option to uninstall old driver and install new one? I don’t have to mess around with uninstallation files/software”

That’ll work to. Probably a better choice just to be on the safe side.

I use to open it two ways. One how you said and the other on the taskbar. Thanks for your support

How did you fix it - the same way?

If you cant find it in menu system and you dont see the icon in the right hand corner of the taskbar and on top of that you got an installation error then the installation is borked.

You can leave it alone and wonder what exactly has been installed on your PC … or you can run the following.

After doing that you should re install the AMD driver software. (THE STABLE ONE) not the optional one. and ensure its installed properly.

Thanks for your reply.
I think you are right. I’ll clean it up. I spoke to AMD and awaiting the answer but I guess they will say the same thing

The icons are back but they just do not open

Odd…The Radeon software icon in the lower right hand corner does not open the Radeon software ?

Restart the pc and try to open it again . If that doesn’t work then use the standard uninstaller this time and run the installer again.

If that doesn’t work then yeah … AMD will have to help you out. or you can try to use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Warning … DDU involves a bunch of steps so if you arent pc savvy skip it and have someone take a gander at it.

So basically as above I was updating the drivers using the software when there was an error. The software including icons disappeared. I did a system restore and the icons and software appeared again but they just don’t open.
I found some good videos on you tube were this problem is mentioned. The guy on the video says to use DDU and then download the new drivers and software from AMD. He shows how to do it.
