AN2 Fuel burn

Regarding the AN-2 biplane I’ve done numerous flights and it seems to me the fuel simulation could use some work, I’ve noticed no perceivable difference in engine temps or fuel usage when leaning out the mixture, nor have I when at altitude.

Having the aircraft essentially locked at full rich regardless of altitude makes me concerned as on the deck I’ve noticed approximately 300ltr/hr fuel burn which gives only 4 hours endurance, furthermore if it is locked at rich, then climb performance and performance at altitude would be severely degraded.

I’ve tried to look for information regarding the mixture system, it seems to be like most g/a aircraft in that its manually adjustable and not a two position auto rich and auto lean type.

Curious to hear others experiances as of course I could be misunderstanding the system or doing something wrong.
