Analyze every landing

I think there are some mods that show this for you out already. Would be nice to have a sort of scoring system (optional of course) available from within the sim.

Do you mean that there is already an option that if you land on an particular airport you can see how exactly your landing was?

depends on the mod you choose. Have a google, should be able to find a few.

Hi Guys,

IT would be nicee when we have a integrated Landingrate to rate our Landings in MSFS 2020.
I mean soemthing like this:

Do you think also so?

Any landing one can walk away from is “acceptable”.

I think this should remain in the avenue of third-party developers.

The problem with most landing rate calculators are they capture the millisecond the gear touches the ground. A landing does not occur in a millisecond but takes a number of seconds.

As the tire starts to contact the runway the rubber starts to deform and absorb some of the force which is then transmitted into the gear assembly. Most gear assemblies have some sort of absorbing mechanic built-in (oilostrut, spring steel, bungees, trailing link gear, etc.) Part of the force is then absorbed by the gear. It also does not account for as the gear touches down you continue the flare and bleed off more downward force.

The landing rate also has little to do with flight safety. Yes, every passenger will judge a pilot by how soft the gear contacts the runway, but that says nothing for how much runway gets chewed up as the pilot tries to over soften the landing. A good landing should be in the landing zone and most runway overruns are because of LONG landings. Attempting to soften the landing is often the cause of long landings.

I think they got it about right for the landing challenges where it is not only the landing rate but alignment and touching down as close as possible to the aim point. The landing rate should include an average of the second or so prior to touchdown and the touchdown through the compression of the gear and include any bounce or skid. If you bounce or skid the landing that should be major points off.

Then there is so much of this that is aircraft-specific. For crosswind landings In the 747 they generally touchdown in a slight crab due to the limited-slip angle presented by the outboard engines while the King Air 350 you want to be straight down the runway in a wing down maneuver with no lateral sideload on touchdown.

yeah. From where do you have this image?

Im using Gees for MSFS:

This is a Image from the X-Plane 11 Addon “Better Landingrate” And i found it in google pictures with the search to “landingrate xp11”. And i have already installed the Gees Landingrate since today.

Also, just to add to this, it should have more components to the scoring than what is there now (e.g. crosswind skill etc.).

And … Please don’t force these features for every user. Some wishes such as these (it2S quite normal that some flyers want to see their skill related data) effect the CPU performance at the exact moment when you want to see smoothness on top level. Make them optional and implement ON OFF switch to let us decide wheter to use or not.

Kind regards.

Hello Flightsimmers,

I do want to reach out to the community in request of a landing rate for Xbox that can be usable outside of Activities. Currently from what I know, there is no rate that we could use for Xbox, so we are guessing how smooth our landing actually was. It would be beneficial for users on Xbox seeing as though PC users have it, so why can’t we? At least it would clarify, and make Xbox users more confident on how they performed on landing. Us Xbox simmers lack content on our side, and this could be something to give us more of an experience like other users on PC.

I really hope someone might even add this into the store of MFS, and the developers approve. Thank you!

Example of a landing rate

I wonder how they’d rate this one?

Allow the user to enable grading for landings at any airport with any aircraft. The touchdown would be with PAPI or VASI as appropriate.

It will be an amazing addition if we can rate our landings after reading some statistics presented to you after landing.

This must include:
*landing rate
*touchdown point in relation to the runway
*gForce
*bank angle
*pitch angle
*wind speeds and direction.

I would love to see this, especially the touchdown point.

Who is with me? :smiley::smiley:

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing , why over complicate it with data that won’t make any difference?

I like it to aim for that perfect landing. That’s the challenge. And with such a feedback system its easy to gauge if your landing was on par.
