No worries, happy to help. When I think it’s reached a point of casual flying acceptably, I’ll happily post.
I don’t think I’ve seen anything announced on the Discord server. I think the next update is slated to have the custom auto-throttle, which is the first necessary piece of the puzzle placed to get to eventual custom LNAV/VNAV/FMS…
I took the EJet out for a spin for the first time in a while yesterday. A bit shockingly (to me), I didn’t have any issues at all: Simbrief integration was fine, it hit all its marks on the flightplan, and it captured the ILS without issue. The only issue I had was not being able to open the cargo doors on the E170, but I think that was an outdated livery issue.
The EJet has come a LOOOOONG way since release, much to FSS’s credit. Unlike Garissliari above, I’d happily recommend this for casual flying as it is right now. Is there room for improvement? Mos def. The thrust/LNAV/VNAV refinements will add a great deal to the experience. And parts of the interface can be a bit clunky (which may be realistic; I have no idea). But right now, this aircraft is as least as functional as the stock A320 (arguably moreso), which is my bar for “casual flyer”. FSS’s stated ambition is to bring this to a “study level” product, and they have definitely made positive strides in that direction, although the journey is still ongoing.
Since my last comment above, capturing ILS now reliably works, which makes a big difference in casual use and FSS indeed is making great progress.
At this point, I think the E-Jets can very satisfactorally be flown manually very much like, say, the CRJ. Of course, that isn’t at all realistic. While the CRJ is accurately a manual plane, the E-Jets are highly automated (one of the reasons they replaced the CRJ in many roles), and it can’t be flown that way until the custom systems are done.
But can you right now fly from pt A to pt B, determine your own TOD, then v/s or flch your way to an ILS capture point and land, all reliably? Absolutely, and the plane is feeling increasingly good to hand fly without some of the wonkiness that marked its launch. If that’s enough for you, absolutely feel free to buy it and dive on in…
Still on the fence about this one, I’m craving some E Jet action lately.
I understand how you feel, and I have been thinking the same thing. I really think in time it will be one of the best in the simulator, however I feel it’s worth the money in its current state. (I think I will grab it) Lol
With all the backlash it received, it has no choice but to get better.
It looks like FlightSim is doing a great job, and I want in.
I bought it after the last update. I couldn’t resist myself anymore…
However, I’m not disappointed. It’s far from ready, but it has a lot of potential. It looks good, the EFB is good, performance is good on my pc. Simbrief integration is new and okay at the moment.
The FMC is basic and VNAV is missing. Don’t buy it if you want this. I use the GNT750 to program the flightplan en calculate TOD. Works okay!
Not finished at all, but flyable at the moment. Even fun…
I also pick this aircraft up and yes it needs some work but it’s worth the money to me and I’m sure it will get better.
And it is fun to fly.
Can anyone who’s a member of their Discord post an invite link? Seems like this product has come a long ways from release and I’d like to keep tabs on it. Might grab it at some point.
brilliant, thanks
What is the current state of this thing? Getting significantly better already?
It depends on what each simmer thinks about “better”. If better is fixing bugs and improving some small things, then yes it is significantly better than when it was released.
If better means having VNAV and some of the major missing systems then no, nothing on that front.
Any release date for a final release (not “early access”) or is it just still in limbo? No way am I touching anything “early access” for MSFS which itself is super buggy.
The “roadmap” only goes up to … two weeks from now another early access 0.9.x release:
Still waiting also.
Seems their Tecnam P2006T has gotten much more positive spotlight and attention than the 175.
I love their P2006T, but I’m still iffy on buying the 175 after reading the reviews.
It’s not fair to say “nothing.” They have their custom auto throttle in now and just dropped the custom speed modes this past update I believe. Those are two important pieces to the final custom FMS/VNAV/LNAV. I think they said most of the VNAV code is actually done but of course needs the other pieces to build the full system. It wouldn’t shock me if they’re another 6 mo to 1 yr off from those major pieces being done, as I expected.
They have actually have been doing every 2 week scheduled updates which have fixed a number of issues (major sound improvement this past week) and have been responsive-ish on their Discord, which has a number of real world E-Jet pilots on there too giving feedback and suggestions which have been really informative.
Bottom line is still the same: If you want to fly it as a kind of CRJ with AT, then it’s fine at the moment. If you want a Vatsim ready complete package, well, no way close right now. For me, they’ve been doing better than I expected and it’s been rewarding to give feedback on things they are working on. Example, I think the radio altimeter feels too high (something I gave feedback on that some other YT streamers have suggested) and they just fixed it in a recent update.
VNAV aside, it’s working decently for a standard A to B flight, LNAV working ok, intercepting ILS ok?
Yes, working quite decently for a standard A to B flight. It can’t do holds yet (custom FMS needed for that). Intercepting the ILS (if you’re reading through the thread) was dodgy originally, but it’s rock solid now. No problems. LNAV is MSFS default, although it’s worked surprisingly well for me so far.
I am going to be very honest here. I have the E-Jets Family for XP12 which use this planes model actually it is the other way around. Anyway the E-Jets version is a fully done E170-195 simulation.
However and I am being really honest here, this 170-175 I actually prefer. Yes it does not have all the features, but there is just something really nice about this one, and I guess better graphics too, I just prefer it. I have no issues with it and they are making good progress.
I have been able to port over some of my skills from the XP12 version to this one where applicable. Not going to comment on the Flight model as 2 different sims, but this one feels almost 95% the same if not equal.
If they attain the same level then I can also see the price going right up close to this one. So it might be wise to buy in now. At the start I had my reservations, but I am glad I did.
