Please tag your post with either msfs-2020 or msfs-2024 if you would like to discuss a specific sim.
I have inibuilds for MSFS2020. I am not sure if it is compatible with MSFS2024 so I don’t want to install it. Anyone do so? Or is there another developer who makes a high quality JFK KJFK airport? Inibuilds website and forum provides no answer to my 2024 compatibility question.
JFK is the Rubicon for both sims and all available versions, none are working great for all users. The Ini add-on is still the 2020 version, not yet reverse compatible with 24 as of earlier this afternoon when I was in 24 checking. We are left with the handcrafted JFK for now. Cheers!
On PC, I’ve been using the FS2020 IniBuilds version in ‘24 since essentially day 1. Works fine for me, though some of the textures and colors are a bit overblown - the nighttime control tower lighting, for example. The same problem affected the 2020 version of Ini’s EGLL until they released their new “Premium” version for 2024. I expect Ini will create paid updates along those same lines for their other major US airports (especially JFK and LAX) but until then the 2020 versions work without sim-breaking issues.
DrVen:
Do you mean you copied the 2020 JFK into MSFS2024 and it actually works.
Yes. I use Addons_Linker 2024 and have the Ini scenery linked into my 2024 Community folder.
In fact, basically all my 2020 scenery from every developer is working for me in 2024, absent some minor texture and color issues as noted above with the JFK tower colored night lighting.
IniBuilds just announced an FS2024 Enhanced version of KJFK - GPB 4.99 upgrade pricing for current owners of the FS2020 version. Looks fantastic!
Am I the only one watching that and thinking “good lord, how much did they spend on music licensing???”
I know too much about how music licensing can work on YT - it’s long, boring and complex so I’m not gonna try to explain it. But kudos to Ini for picking the best music for this trailer.
ALSO, somehow this 2024 version looks amazingly better than the 2020 version, uses less overall VRAM on my system, and runs faster.
