Has anyone actually seen any trains in the sim? I remember someone from Asobo or MS talking about having running trains. I know it’s ridiculous really, but I was kind of looking forward to seeing some 
I thought it had been thrown out as a “will never be done” by the devs a long time ago.

Hi Chris, you might enjoy my addon “Trains: North America” available on Marketplace in the Traffic section.
Or, if you prefer to fly in Europe, coming soon in MSFS 2024 I have various addons for trains in Europe following real world timetables with advanced path-finding and signal simulation, 3D tracks, station platforms, catenary poles and more. You could even take a ride on a train with your avatar.

Not so long ago. Jorg talked about trains a bit during the Grand Canyon influencers demo. And, yes, that’s what he said. He said if they were going to do trains, they’d want to do it right. And that would take so much work it would be a whole other simulator’s worth of work. So, no, they won’t be adding trains to the sim. (Jorg adores trains btw)
Of course, that response kind of seems to make assumptions about what users want. But, I get that doing rails could be hard due to how to get them to follow terrain, and how to deal with tunnels. I totally see that would be a lot of work. Not to mention if they use the same tech they use for roads… Ick!!, I hate how vehicle paths are so short and cars disappear randomly in full view. If that’s what happens to trains, yeah, not interested.
But the addon seems interesting. I wonder how it affects sim performance. I’ll have to look for some reviews.

Thanks for the information. I understand their opinion, but as you also wrote the traffic today needs still a lot of work. I would not mind if trains behave the same way as traffic nowadays, it still would add paramount realism to the world.
