If so, how do you like it? They’re kinda getting dinged on their London landmarks, but these few airports seem good and not just ports. Any thoughts from actual owners? Cheers.
I have Orca’s island and enjoy flying GA’s in and out of it. Been using it in FSX as well as P3D. It is always fun seeing the orca’s and hearing then.
Very immersive.
And you have it for MSFS2020?
Since it looks like it is now released on Orbx direct for MSFS, I can say that I helped beta test it and I think it looks good.
Orbx’s P3D, XP11, and MSFS versions are not identical, since each sim is a bit different on what the developers can do.
I’ve flown into KORS several times IRL and all three versions are very good representations of the airport.
Don’t have it for FS2020 yet, as I am still downloading the actual sim, but it will certainly be one of my first OrbX airport to buy. Specially because I get it discounted for having it for FSX/P3D.
I just checked, and Orca’s Island is not available for FS2020 atm. So I will probably start with getting LOWI.
Interesting…I see it listed on Orbx Central right now.
I can confirm that I also see the release version of KORS for MSFS available in Orbx Central.
I’ve heard some of the models are pretty so-so… mostly ports so be careful.
I’ve seen those posts too, but all I can think of is the users’ graphics settings. If they’re on Low or Medium, it’s no wonder those buildings look like that. Besides, the buildings are also not made to look at from 10 feet away. It’s a Flight Simulator and from 300 feet (or more), the buildings do look good. If you want to use the Flight Simulator as something else than a simulator, go ahead, but don’t complain. Use it as a simulator and it all looks great.
Did you notice if the markings have been corrected compared to the XP11 version?
(I mentioned several discrepancies in that post on orbx forum (without any response))
KORS runway:
48.707392, -122.910569
The XP11 was a rather simplistic conversion from the ten years old FSX scenery and did not make use of PBR textures/materials.
Based on the very few screenshots from the current product for MSFS I’m wondering if Orbx KORS has been updated. They could have just used a few PBR textures and swapped outdated (low poly) vehicles for default MSFS or new ones?
I’d be happy to know it’s been more carefully adjusted for that wonderful new simulation. MSFS and Asobo have brought higher visual standards.
Any opinion and/or screenshot would be very much appreciated
There are some nice screenshots on the Orbx product page.
From what I can see, the runway markings in the MSFS version resemble the Google Earth image and the Bing Maps (zoomed in) image.
They are not identical to the markings in the XP11 version, which match the Bing Maps (zoomed out) image.
Specifically, I see threshold markings in MSFS, but not in XP11.
I’m waiting for the chaos to die down a bit before purchasing MSFS, so I don’t have any personal screenshots to share yet.
I bought orcas today, looks great in ultra.
Ok, so it seems it’s still not been updated correctly… (@Thundercat710)
It’s obviously usable, and there are recognizable buildings but the markings are not right and that should have been easy to fix.
As far as I can tell, based on the reasonably recent references I found (including Bing maps imagery): segmented circle should have two colors (white/red), missing marking on the apron, wrong runway threshold markings (4 longitudinal stripes irl), closed taxiway marking (yellow cross), chevrons not aligned, rwy number too small, etc.
So it might be ok overall but I’d have different expectations. At least I know it’s not a product for me
I’m missing the Orcas next to Orcas Island (ORBX).
Thanks for this! Cheers
I have it and am enjoying it. I have fond memories of the Aerosoft addon for FSX, and I think Orbx did a nice job with theirs.
