Anyone Running Ultra Settings With Steady FPS?

I was in 4k on both the RTX 2080 Super and TI plus an extreme Titan.

Messed aroud nhelpign someone figuare out issue at the boston international notice FPS adverage dropped in 4k to 20’s and 30 mark.

Played around a lot trying to find a sweet spot in settings and now all areas are low in 4k when normally were in 40’s and 50’s

Doign that screwed things up.

Rebooted system, luckily it takes 3 secs to do so.

Still had lower then normal in areas I always fly.

BUt not its recachign crud.

CHanged from 4k back down to hte 1080p and wide screen lower. Full ultra and now frames are at the 55-60 locked again.

The Developers menu history is showing cache and memory storage issues. Errors in the game engine.

They have to fine tuning to do again.

I really recommend for now people dont mess with the settings to much until they patch some issues. It affecting even super high end systems. Killed performance on all my systems. THe RTX 2080 SUper, 2080 TI, and TItan pro 2080, THe I9 systems still have a slight edge, but by a slight margin in 4k.

Was fine, now ■■■■. Doing a fresh install on the highest end system after clearing all the data. I will see if it goes back to normal.

So after it goign to pot in 4k

At 1080p Ultra maxed out. adverage 50+ FPS

4k that used to do 40-54+ fps is now 30’s, some airports drop to 20-25 fps.

All from changing settings to much

Sytems we tested the all reulted in sudden declines

System 1: I7 4 core + GTX 1080TI

system2: I9 8 core 9800k RTX 2080 Super

System 3: I9 8 Core 9800k RTX 2080 TI

SYstem 4: I9 10 Core 10900k Titan RTX Pro

All suffered the same sudden mess aroudn then performance Decline in 4k Multi

I was expecting it to be much worse. Every 30 mins or so of gameplay, my frame will freeze for about 3 or 4 seconds. Every 5-7 hours of play time my cockpit buttons will become unresponsive and I will have to restart the flight. It has never completely crashed and the other “issues” are me just pushing my laptop too hard. The game has been phenomenal so far…

I am running all settings Ultra and maintain 60FPS .
I have i7-9700K 3.60Hz with 16 gigs of ram 3000MHz and RTX 2080 SUPER. :sunglasses:

SO I HAVE TO TYPE THIS IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE IT NEEDS TO CATCH SOMEONES EYE. I am running. 3900x, 32 gb of RAM, 2080S, 500mb of SSD on a x570 Ace motherboard. I have been getting the worse frames ever when it came to this simulator and I was ready to chock it up until an update BUT.. I have a dual monitor setup and for some reason whenever I have the mouse on the screen it gives me about 10 FPS but as soon as I click on the monitor I’m not using and off of the main screen I got +30 on ULTRA. I don’t know what kind of help that gives but maybe it gives lead way on some ideas on fixing this ■■■■■■ optimization.

I have a gsync compatible tv. I play on ultra at 1440 and I get 30 fps in large cities at 500 feet and up to 50 fps up high. While I don’t get steady framerate all the time, because of gsync it’s buttery smooth.

I think when the game goes to direct X 12, the performance should improve.

I am using an i7-2600K overclocked. A GTX 1070 overclocked with 16GB of system RAM. The simulator is set to Med-Ultra and I am getting silky smooth frame rates using GA aircraft. 60FPS. I have not flown over a city yet. Initially the sim ran like a ‘dying dog’ I enabled hyper-threading and used Nvidia Control panel using the global setting tab to set my options for MSFS, (I could not find the .exe for the sim). I set V sync to FAST within the Nvidia Control Panel, turned it off in the simulator and disabled the scenery cache within the simulator. I made other optimisations, turning off ‘Game Mode’ within Win10. Installing on a dedicated SSD drive which was tweaked using the Crucial Storage Manager utility. My load times are much faster than X-Plane 11 and not lagging as other people report. This is proof positive that good performance can be achieved using, (what might be considered) old hardware. Charles.

That is super helpful info. I am running similar hardware so I will give this a go to help performance! Cheers

If you are using a Crucial drive, the utility called Crucial Storage Executive allows one to set ‘Provisioning’ on an SSD and ‘Momentum Cache’ I have no idea if these tweaks have improved my load times from my SSD. I did not compress my SSD to save storage space either. To use this utility your anti-virus must be turned off otherwise the app will not start. I also did the usual things like stopping my anti-virus software completely. I should have done my tweaks gradually and not all in one go, I am not sure what change I made that improved my performance so dramatically, I think it may have been disabling the cache within the simulator. Let us know how you get on Grealdo. If need be, I can record all my settings for you. Charles.

Thanks Charles, much appreciated!

I forgot, Win10 updates to ‘PAUSE’. Charles.

Hello.

Can you direct us on how to optimize FPS within STEAM l? And what Command line we should use?

Thank you

i think a lot of people are forgetting…when FSX came out or P3D if you want, the perfect PC for running MAX settings did not exist at the time. Same here, with the updates from Asobo and the technological advance in hardware we will be able to run at max settings(maybe not all of them)in the future. Heck this sim came out literally 5 days ago. Chill and appreciate what we have. Patience is a virtue. Let Asobo know that we are grateful for this sim

I run at 1440p with Ultra settings and I only have a bad framerate for the first 20ish seconds after spawning in. All these people with newer/faster video cards than me… I wonder what the rest of their system and internet connection is like.

ultra i get 25 > 30 in cockpit low end 42

my CPU and GPU is under 40% load

its just really poor optimastion hit and miss what people get

Imho unless you’re using a 2080ti no one should be using full Ultra settings.Ultra settings will look good but Its practically better for stress testing or benchmarking nothing else.
Suggest forgetting about Ultra and use what your PC recommends or mix the settings up a bit.I am using the Nvidia Quality which has most of my settings on high,a few on ultra like the clouds.

I am seeing so many people on social media wanting or asking to run this on Ultra.Impossible on current hardware and on a bit of outdated engine like DX11.The problem here the fps can vary from flying a GA plane down to large Airliner into a heavy area with heavy weather.

My test I saw a 10+fps lost from high to ultra and this was a test in a busy area with the a320.From 45fps in high settings to 33 on ultra.

read my post above, i’m sorry but with my system i should not be getting 42 on lowest settings possible. it looks horrendous

this was optimised for low end systems, its reallt that simple, between high and ultra there is a 3fps difference, the fact people are using the affinity mask work around that was used on fsx just shows how terrible the optimisation is

I had the same problem last night not being able to click any buttons in the cockpit. You don’t need to restart the flight! All you need to do is resize the ATC window and also try moving it around. It’s a strange bug but that worked for me.

System: 9900k 4.9 OC, 64GB RAM, 2080 TI 11GB, M.2 SSD exclusively for MSFS, 3840x1080
Settings: Ultra

Props: Constant 50-60fps, drops as low as 45 (very rare)
Jets: Lowest experienced: 30fps at EDDF

Strange! But thanks! I tried going on a click frenzy to try and restore it but that must have been the one option I never tried. Appreciate it :grinning: :+1:
