I think it’s the other way around. The drive was failing and causing MSFS to CTD.

new can be faulty, but sound odd that a piece of software could have wrecked your boot drive. sounds more like you got a virus or something

I think its the Digital Ownership and program encryption from Store version, and which seems connected to the bootup that then again services the encrypted DeLuxe version MSFS program, which also keeps track of the upgrade. Too many MSFS crashes broke something.
