Apparently 200% render scale in PC settings does wonders for VR performance

I would quickly complete the list of 40 different aircraft then, you won’t regret it

But to be fair, MSFS delivers an astonishing graphics quality even at lower settings. It’s only when you want to run 4K resolutions or pump up the resolution (super sampling) on a G2 or Quest 2 headset that you might run into problems with older hardware. I think the 2070S will be a valid GPU for quite a long time. While in technical alpha my 980ti was also quite adequate at 1080p and usable at 1440p.

Now I’m running a 3080 with an old CPU (6700K), so that’s also not perfect, at least not in VR at the moment. It does run very well on 4K though using high to ultra settings.

I actually got very lucky in obtaining my 3080 as I was still on my way home at launch time. When I concluded that I wouldn’t make it home in time I already opened the page of the GPU I wanted to buy (ASUS TUF). At launch time I refreshed it until the button appeared (which took ages because of the site being too busy), it was a pre-order button, but I didn’t really think about it and placed the order anyway.

When I got home I found out that lots of people had ordered GPU’s that had a ‘buy’ button instead of a ‘pre-order’ button and they ordered way earlier than I did. I was a bit disappointed because I thought that meant that I wouldn’t have a chance to get one in the near future. But because everyone was lured away by the GPU’s that had a ‘buy’ button I actually was #1 in line for that specific GPU and got it within a week while others had to wait for months.
