Personally, I believe the A32NX team deserves not just a round of applause but as much support from the community as possible. Hence, I have written this appreciation dedicated to anyone and everyone who is and or has contributed towards the development of the A32NX mod.
Dear Fly By Wire Team,
Thank you for creating such a wonderful aircraft and making it freely available and open source. Your efforts are a testament to the possibilities of free software and collaboration.
Ever since beginning to use MSFS in January (I’ve been simming since 1997), I have hardly used any default aircraft, save for the Icon, 747 and the Cessna 172. Instead, I have been using the A32NX, almost exclusively. Yes, I am an Airbus person, though I began simming as a Boeing person!
Today, I decided to fly some of the stock aircraft to calibrate and test out my new throttle profiles. Safe to say, apart from the Cessna, Icon and 747, it was all largely a disaster.
When I tried the stock A320neo, it was like going to another world. Unmanageable and unrealistic and unresponsive. And what’s with so many stock aircraft refusing to settle onto the runway during the flare?
I say this as someone who’s spent some time in A320 and A330 class D simulators; the A32NX does a great job of modelling the behaviours and systems of the real aircraft, including the sound. Granted it’s not 100% there yet, but it’s pretty close.
A friend of mine is a retired training captain, rated on the 320, 330 and 340 and I recently built a PC for him and set him up for flight simulator. He says, it’s all a remarkably good simulation of the aircraft, and is also now a huge MSFS fan having gotten into simming only now for the first time in his life.
Another friend of mine is an engineer who works on the 320/30 for an airline and he, while not fascinated with flight, spent an hour checking out the hydraulics systems and others and clearly had a whale of a time.
The A32NX is not perfect but it’s the closest thing to perfect we have at this time and it’s a remarkable achievement, as is MSFS, and I think the FBW team is deserving of much appreciation from me and, I believe, the community at large.
Of course, this is entirely my opinion and some may not share it, and that’s fine. But I really want to say a big thank you to FBW and also to Asobo. While the stock aircraft leave a lot to be desired. The sim, despite its flaws, is simply amazing.
Thank you FBW and please keep up the good work. Personally, I cannot wait to see where the A32NX ends up and I’m even more excited and psyched for the release of the FBW A380.
Thank you also everyone who took the time to read this.
Bye.
