I am following the tutorial here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmABmcftfrk&t=7s learning the SDK and trying to remove satellite imagery at McCall Municipal Airport. The video suggests I add an apron object and replace it’s texture with a grass object and uncheck ground merging.
So I add the apron object, works great. But all of a sudden every airport texture becomes green. Doesn’t matter how big or small my apron object is, it will always make the ground taxiways green. Don’t know how to fix it, any suggestions?
Here’s what it looks like before:
It does look like picture #1, the green textures do not show up on the rest of the airport. Would be nice if it updated like it without having to re-start the sim.
I get what you mean within the project, but if you compile the project and then add it to the SIM as if you were adding some addon scenery is it OK, or is it only while you are developing it that it shows the wrong textures?
Thats something. I can see how it would be annoying when you’re trying to build it. I seem to recall something similar a while back, but I don’t think it was permanently happening for me.
I can’t at the moment as I’m unlikely to get a chance before New year. I seem to recall when I was doing one of my airports back in 2020 the the built in Dev tools often did this (but as I said not permanently). I went back to using ADE which I also used in FS9, FSX and P3D as I found it much easier.
I think you’re encountering a rendering problem within the SDK that’s been there awhile. While working in the SDK, sometimes airport objects like aprons, runways, etc disappear or flicker. The green textures you’re getting is just the raw Bing satellite imagery without the default apron placed over it.
This has happened to me a lot as well. Sometimes hiding the airport objects and unhiding them fixes it temporarily. Also make sure you’ve updated to the latest version of the SDK.
