Spoiler: I’ve flown in an F-15D. There are only degrees of realism. 7.8Gs and motion changes the equation completely. Any simulation is only a portion of reality.

and, yes, obviously we are speaking of “realism” within the boundaries of current level of simulation!

Agreed with Dean’s perspective. I’m lucky enough to have a a few hours of stick time in military planes from my journalism days, and let me tell you, the stuff that the rivet counters obsess about was not what made those amazing experiences!
FWIW, I love DCS too, but I have a hangar full of planes there with much less time on them because I have to learn to fly them for real. There’s room for both types!
