Not sure If I want to include them in my unit if they just for visuals.
Yes indeed they are. I just recently had a case where the unit wouldn’t turn on because it was turned off at the local com vol control. It doubles as the local power on/off. Rotated the volume and unit powered up.
I thought it would be a cool idea to implement it into vpilot somehow via arduino code, its probably possible but I’ve never made a gns 530 and therefore haven’t tried it. But it seems like a cool implemenation if you fly vatsim
I use Mobiflight so hopefully I can work out something. Either way, I guess it will be good to have them as I fly in VR and if they weren’t there it might be confusing.
All drawn up and the printing has begun.
Did you end up recreating these by hand, or using the method removed?
Looks very clean if it’s the second.
I used the method removed as a template to draw them by hand. Like doing a tracing. I’ve gotten pretty proficient at it.
I think it’s time for a resin printer, so I can transfer that level of detail to the physical model.
Back to the original topic. I cannot find the variable for the on/off switch or the volume control. It’s been a very long time since I’ve had to use FSUIPC for variables. Or will it be a sim connect variable? Maybe an eventID, hmmm.
I checked with Realsimgear. Their on/off and volume are non-functional so I’m thinking it’s not an option. But I’ll go ahead and install the switching pots anyway seeing as they’ll be here tomorrow and only cost $9 for 5 of them. Who knows, maybe they’ll be made functional at a later date.
