Are there content creators who perform work for hire?

Hello all,

Wondering if there’s a forum or company that offers work for hire to create landmark, scenery, airports, etc. I tried creating custom scenery but somewhat failed at it as I have no skills with Blender or 3D modeling. I also read some issues regarding legalities when using Google or Bing map imagery too, so this level of experience is out of my league.

I certainly understand how time-intensive creating detailed landmarks is, and I imagine it would cost some big bucks depending upon the size of the project.. I’m not rolling in cash, but would creating a landmark that includes Brighton City Airport U.K. to east Brighton Beach cost $2,000, $10,000, get a second mortgage, or stick with custom cache.

Regarding Bing photogrammetry, why is Bing photogrammetry data not as clear as what I see on the Bing Maps website? If it were, that would be awesome!

As always, looking forward to your thoughts…

Frank

Thank you much!

There is an add-on for Brighton City Airport.

Also there are two photogrammetry add-ons. If you do not plan to use it commercially then you should be fine.

I like the Brighton packs, but not in love with them. The packs improve a lot; the cliffs, the east-end shopping center, the beaches, the train station, but the scenery does not blend in well at-all with the surroundings. Looks like a section of the city was white-washed! And the night or twilight flights have mostly street lights and no window lighting.

I know creating this stuff isn’t easy… I tried and failed miserably. My sceneries didn’t blend well, and never might the time involved in creating awesome-looking night or twilight flights.

For now, I’ll just stick with more professionally-created scenery or cache the landscape. But I appreciate the suggestions. The airport is still under evaluation.

You only have a Google copyright issue if you sell the scenery.

Flightsim.to should be your goto site.

I actually believe that I will never have to pay for an airport in MSFS.

Having paid 2000 over the years for scenery in earlier sims, this will come as a huge relief.

The reason is 3 fold.

  1. It appears to be easier to create airports for MSFS

  2. Even a basic upgrade over stock looks pretty darn good. Some are already looking as good as previous “Professionally made” addons that typically cost 20 to 30 quid.

  3. Also, they tend to be less of a resource hog than bigger more poly-dense professional efforts.

Finally, more of a personal thing that dawned on me recently: ironically, because the rest of the scenery is so much better than anything that preceded MSFS, the quality of airports dosn’t seem to be AS important …

It’s weird, but true !

So, a virtually unlimited number (eventually) of “5/10” airports at zero bucks each, vs 100 “8/10” airports at 100×20 = 2000 bucks. **

…Thus cheaper and better performing.

You do the maths.

** In fact a number of people have commented that the freeware version of Compton Abbas is better than the OrbX version in P3D. Clearly that is “in their opinion”, but it bodes well for the future.

Yeah, ORBX doesn’t hit them all out of the park all the time, that’s for sure. Still, it takes a ton of time and devotion to create those killer landmarks, and the difference shows. For companies like ORBX to create those custom graphics so they can sell the packs is worth it for me.

I’m more of a landmarks and scenery simmer anyway flying at 500-1200 feet in a low and slow DA40 for the open view. And a decently crafted airport to depart and land at is nice too, but not that important for me. Resources aren’t an issue for my desktop, so I’m always looking for quality over quantity.
