Are there any joysticks or yokes with Force Feedback? I’m not sure if that’s even possible but if they can do it with racing wheels it seems like it should be doable?
I was flying last night and thinking about how sensitive some of the controls are, like rudder… and my thought is that one of the biggest reasons for the sensitivity is that in a real-world scenario you have feedback right in the controls. You can feel how the outside is affecting the inputs. I haven’t flown much myself but I assume you have some amount of static pressure… like if you’re holding the yoke you’re actually holding it in place, not just resting your hands on it, right? It seems to me that the sim doesn’t “simulate” that which is why you have to make micro adjustments to the inputs. If the sim assumed that the pilot was holding the plane steady, it’d be much less work with a joystick… I’m wondering if force feedback would be another solution, rather than the sim assuming the pilot is maintaining steady flight.
I dunno if this makes a ton of sense, just some thoughts
I’m not sure if anyone has heard anything different. But its largely been tumbleweeds on the force feedback front. AFAIK this isn’t even on anyone’s radar, our only hope for those of us with non typical setups at this moment is enhanced support for the SDK. Fsuipc isn’t even running very well at the moment, so this is largely a make some noise and wait and see kind of situation. Edit: ha, sorry I missed answering your initial question. Yes there are lots of options, but many are pricey! I wouldn’t suggest such an investment unless you are sure this is something you are going to enjoy alot. Personally, I do have a force feedback yoke and with the right platform(p3d and fsforce2) it was amazing! Truly adds to the experience. But as I’ve stated above, I haven’t even seen this on any road map even though I know it’s been mentioned.
Its definitely something that a lot of simmer would want to have. Back in the day I believe Thrustmaster even made one, but I don’t think it is for sale anymore.
The reason for that is that flight sims are still an niece market, there are some Joystick/Yoke bases that have force feedback for the home cockpit builders, but you will be in the 4 digits price range if you want one of those.
I love my Brunner NG. Issue is that right now, it does not play well when Auto Pilot is engaged. It will pitch up and down wildly. Brunner has a work around but requires disabling the Force Feed Back function.
