Today we completed leg 6 (OYAA - VAJJ).

The flight to OODQ, our fuel stop because the CJ4 can’t make the full flight, was uneventful.

Lots of desert.

Approach to OODQ.

Fairly wide and long runway.

After refueling we were off across the ocean to Mumbai (VAJJ). Only to find out about 300NM from Mumbai that we made a serious mistake with the fuel calculation. We ran out of fuel about 200NM from the airport at FL390.

With no diversion airports close enough the last resort was to glide our way down to the airport. So I set it for a slow glide of -1000fpm. About 39NM from the airport a haze covered over the land and we ran out of battery and lost all instruments. I had made the decision not to lower the gears to avoid drag and realized once the batteries failed I wouldn’t be able to lower them again. So it was going to be a no gear down landing.

We landed safely, but not as planned. Since I glided a little too shallow I was too high to make the approach on the shorter runway of VAJJ. So I glided over to VABB and landed there.

Talk about a perilous journey. But we made it in one piece and will hopefully have the aircraft repaired and back in the air for the next couple legs.

Today Leg 7 and 8 were completed.

Departure from Mumbai (VABB).

Nice landscape.

Leaving Allahabad Airport (VAAL). This is the old one. Had some company traffic for the takeoff.

There was quite some clouds coming into VECC.

Parked and ready to switch aircraft for the next leg.

Leg 9 finally completed after some delays.

This one was a night flight so not many pics. Fortunately there were some airport lights at VECC. It was also raining.

It was a mostly uneventful flight. I had to manually key in the approach as it appears not to be a standard one. Thanks to Navigraph for at least have the plate.

The lone spot where there were lights at WSSL.

Completed Leg 10.

Ready to go to Hong Kong (VHSK) in a different livery.

Quite a large city Singapore.

I should have gotten some pics into Hong Kong but as I was making my approach into RWY 29 i realized that end of the runway was right behind a mountain. I had to do a go around manually reconfigure for runway 11 and was thus not able to get any pics coming. And no, there are no approaches in Navigraph for VHSK.

You can see the differences in the runway ends.

Completed Leg 11.

I had Approach and Center VATSIM ATC from Hong Kong on the way out.

Surveying the Chinese coast.

Approach for runway 17R.

Final.

It was a bit of a long taxi to the south end parking. I was hoping for a much quicker turn around for the next leg.

Completed leg 12.

Leaving China (ZSPD).

Approach into Tokyo is majestic. First what I believe is Mount Fuji.

Then the approach over the city.

Finally parked at the north end.

Next up the longest leg of the tour. Tokyo to San Franscico.

Completed leg 13.

Left Tokyo (RJTT) around 4PM local time so was able to get some sunset shots. It is a significant leg as it is the longest leg of the tour but also the leg that takes us from the Eurasia continent to the Americas.

Pushing Back from the North apron. Fortunately the winds were prevailing from the east so I had a short taxi right to runway 4.

You gotta monitor the Global 6000 on take off as it accelerates so quickly you overspeed really fast. So no time to take too many take off shots.

At cruise the sun started to set and signaled our departure from Asia.

Didn’t expect to see some sunlight before reaching San Francisco (KSFO). This was about 700NM from the coast.

Coming over the mainland.

Was lined up for Runway 19R when VATSIM Tower came online and ask me to reconfigure for 28R.

It was worth it as it made my taxi in to the GA ramp shorter and I had a Bombardier brethren parked on the ramp.

Next we have to cross the US from West to East. I look forward to switching aircraft…

Completed Legs 14-17.

Leaving San Francisco (KSFO)

Leaving Salt Lake (KBTF)

Coming over the mountains.

Unfortunately the sun was setting on the rest of the trip

A couple more legs to go before we get to US east coast.

Completed Leg 18. This is significant leg for one BIG reason, we are flying into the historical Meigs Field (KCGX). Glad to be back after all these years. Fortunately we waited to fly out at day break for this flight.

Leaving Omaha (3NO aka 91NE). Caught some fall colors.

Fly over of KOMA.

Ugly overcast over the Chicago area.

Back at Meigs. The nostalgia did kick in for real.

Next is the final leg to the east coast.

Completed Leg 19.

Leaving Meigs (KCGX) the weather was slightly better than yesterday.

Weather coming into New York (KFRG) wasn’t much better.

More ground traffic than ever for a smaller airport.

Ready for the last long leg over the Atlantic.

Finished Leg 20. Back in Europe.

Leaving busy New York (KFRG).

The mid afternoon departure would guarantee we get there at night.

The Jetstream winds were very favorable so that crossed the pond in just 5.6hrs.

Parked in Cork (EICK).

3 more legs to go! I ferried the wrong aircraft for our next stop. So will have to wait a couple days to finish the tour. Definitely looks like this week will be the finale.

Tour is done. Completed the final 3 legs. Unfortunately not much pics since they were all night flights.

I used the DA62 for legs 21 and 22 (EICK - EIWT - EGGP).

There were no Apron lights at EIWT for a screenshot.

Then I took the TBM930 for the final leg into London City (EGLC).

It was also nice to have some VATSIM ATC for the final leg.

I enjoyed this tour I hope you enjoyed riding along.
