To be clear upfront, this is not a commercial event, other than a whooping lot of traffic on our forums we have nothing commercially to gain. We have many pilots using X-Plane, FSX or P3D.
Most pilots who joined this adventure have now arrived at Port Said and are gathering the only bar that serves alcohol. In total, they flew over 180.000 miles by now in total and this is just the first leg. And they did have adventures. A Ju52 almost went down over the alps because of icing, several PMDG DC6 lost engines and many pilots just got lost because they are doing the trip fully VFR.
A major element of this event is to invite the pilots to create a diary of their trip. It can be in text only, it can be in video, it can be in the form of a comic. We enjoy people mixing up the current day and the days when Phileas Fogg and his manservant did the trip.
