As I said in the heading, Why is this and is there any work around or way of fixing it?
I had that issue too with the DC6, on normal view I couldnāt see a snowy runway.
If you look down at your Car C D Player it is initially Dark and unreadable..
As your eye adapts to the relative darkness the Outside will become bright and washed out ..
When you look up again the eye will adapt and things become more realistic
Its Not ābrokenā
Asobo are simply trying to reflect what happens IRL
It is called āāoptimizationāā. Donāt like it?
I like your rationalisation of the āfeatureā but we arenāt IRL we are looking at a computer screen. It worked much better before SU5 - anything looking forwards out of the cockpit is now much brighter and has less definition and shadow than it used to. Pre SU5 it was much more like a simulation of IRL than it is now for a great many users.
Hm yes this is the new overblooming and eye adaption feature. Just looking halfway at the horizon and the upper cockpit instruments (artificial horizon speedometer etc.) is sometimes overbright too.
The bloom shader and eye adaption should be reduced to at least half of it“s value because it disturbs the natural view. Sometimes I look at the horizon and cannot see it anymore because everything is so overbright (even without any late afternoon sun being directly in front the cockpit the excessive use of the bloom effect takes place.)
Disabling bloom and eye adaption in the config file unfortunately does not have any effect.
Exactly. If you notice it, then it isnāt like IRL. It is bad and distracting and not needed.
Pre SU5 it was more obvious, with it being almost too dark in the cockpit, now that they have upped the contrast and brightness it is a little less jarring, but is too washed out.
Itās actually true. They mimic the effect of your pupil dilation and contraction. It has been like this since the Alpha.
That is why I have my own pupil. Let our eyes adjust when needed. The way it is now confuses our eyes an creates a mess.
I know, its stupid but I think it is related to the Forza graphics engine they use. You see the same effect in forza horizon 4 for. Example.
Yeah and it sucks badly.
We saw this recently and have given it a go. It does involve editing the User cfg file.
Weāre not VR users so this applies to ā66ā.

You can double the LodFactor or increase it depending on the ability of your System.

ColorGrading 0 This seems to correct the Colour Bleaching.
Sharpen 1 Leave this alone although some people advise 0.

LensFlare 1
FilmGrain 0 Fiilm Grain 0.
Some users say this will cause Blurry Ground Textures but this is not evident on our System.
Please donāt forget to Tick Read Only in the User cfg Properties.
Alternatively, if youāre not happy wth these changes just revert to the default settings or simply delete the User file which will be recovered next time you start the Sim.
We must be patient and wait for Asobo to rectify these issues which is in fact exactly what weāve decided to do.
We hope this helps and meanwhile perhaps we could all do with a bit of Levity during these āTurbulentā times,ā¦
ps. What a gorgious looking American Airlines Stewardess. This film was made half a Century ago and weāre sure that this lady looks just as lovely today.
More recently a friend of ours Flew to Kefalonia with her extremely out spoken Mum.
As the Pre Flight lesson was being read out by the Cabin Staff this Courageous Lady spoke out in a more than audible Stage Whisper,ā¦
" I thought Stewardesses were supposed to be Pretty"
Well,⦠No guesses as to to who got the Less than Coach Seat service on that Flight !
I have set EyeAdaption to 0 but with no effect.
It is broken as it is much too bright, and my eyes at least adapt much quicker, itās one of those cases which sounds like a good idea but if you are made aware of it because of the way it reacts (too slow, too bright, too dark etc) then that destroys the effect that you are trying to achieve. Itās a bit like when Iām editing photos, I make some adjustments and think thatās nice, but to make it look natural I almost always need to reduce the effect.
My opinion, others may, must likely will, disagree.
This has been happening to alot of us. Do you use high contrast settings if so then dont or be prepared to make some sacrifices.
To fix it for the time being, open up you Graphics Card control panel, launch the game then the flight,
look around and see how bad it is, if its horrendous switch to the cotrol panel and adjust the settings there so it looks correct. Now hit apply in your control panel, and go back to your game. The thing is that the next time you start the game, the game may all of a sudden be to dark or to light again.
But thats the fix at least to make it viewable.
Oh yeah I almost forgot, you can also go into the weather menu and add clouds, this will usually make the problem go away as long as you stay in the same weather pattern. Switch back to clear or live (on a clear day) and youāll get the unbearble white haze again.
I always like to fly with real world weather.
but I will try to see if I can do anything with my Graphic card settings.
Thanks.
If you have an HDR capable display try turning HDR on in Windows HD Colour settings, then start MSFS and turn on HDR10 in General Options - Graphics.
You might also want to try enabling Image Sharpening for MSFS in Nvidia Control Panel.
Plenty of threads already about this. Asobo changed the exposure and lighting it seems.
A lot of folks had this problem before the patch as well. It like the sun is over bright to me.
