Asobo 737 MAX 8 Passenger Weights Don't Load with EFB

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

When loading the weights of passengers, cargo, and fuel into the aircraft with the EFB, the weight of passengers does not reflect in the CDU PERF INIT page until the passengers have been called to load via ATC Ground Services. This can be observed by using the LSK on the ZFW line of the PERF INIT page which should show the aircraft’s “sensed” zero fuel weight. This value is the same before/after using the “LOAD AIRCRAFT” button on the EFB Aircraft app, but will increase to the predicted ZFW value after Ground Services is called to board passengers.

If applicable, which aircraft is experiencing this issue:

Asobo Boeing 737 MAX 8 Passengers (have not tried the private charter variant)

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

Every time

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Load a flight at a gate/parking spot with the Asobo Boeing 737 MAX 8 Passengers variant

  2. Observe what the aircraft’s FMS currently believes its zero fuel weight (ZFW) is on the PERF INIT page of the CDU by clicking the LSK next to ZFW one (1) time (do not double click to write this value to the ZFW field, just observe the value in the scratch pad at the bottom of the CDU)

  3. Update the passengers value to something dramatically different than default (fully empty or fully loaded for testing purposes)

  4. Press “LOAD AIRCRAFT”

  5. Repeat step 2 from above and see that it is unchanged despite “loading” weight in via the EFB

  6. Use the Communications window to contact Ground Services and request passenger boarding

  7. Repeat step 2 from above and see that it has now changed to the expected ZFW value

Just updating that this issue is still present in 1.5.21.0 of the SU3 beta. The only way to get an accurate ZFW is by waiting for passengers to fully board - the “LOAD IMMEDIATELY” button on the Seats page of the EFB Aircraft weights & balances area does absolutely nothing to the aircraft’s weight.

Thank you for the bug report.

We have created an internal ticket to see if our team already has this logged, and if not they will attempt to reproduce the issue and create a new bug report. This item is now marked as feedback-logged. If there is an existing bug report or one is created, we will move this thread to bug-logged.

This seems to be fixed with 1.6.11.0

I did a flight few minutes ago and I never managed to spawn any passenger in 737, same result in A320..

How did you attempt to load the passengers in? And are you on SU4 beta 1.6.11.0?

I tried at the start of my flight by using the jetway, nobody spawned

After my flight I tried again after restarting the game, both via ATC and via Load instantly, I sometimes have a big freeze like the game is loading something but, no nothing

After that I tried with A320, same results, and changing the character quantity parameters in the option doesn’t change anything

The only way I found to spawn someone is to remove one passenger on EFB, click on load, and adding this passenger again, and then he appears, but just one or two

Anyway the whole weight and passenger system is still broken on almost every points on all default liners, on 737 the plane has different values on FMC and EFB about weight and balance, resulting to a bad center of gravity wich is dangerous on take off (a lot of topics are talking about this issue)

Same on A320/21LR the weight data on the inibuilds EFB is different than in EFB we don’t know what to trust, even on career mode the EFB says there is no passenger after boarding.. It’s a mess…

The weight and balance page on the FMC is not intended for use - Working Title explained that this is leftover from development in 2020 before the EFB existed.

Are you on the SU4 beta or the live version of the sim?

Thanks for the information about the FMC, I’m on SU4, I’ll give another try tomorrow

I found what was my issue

The problem is the character quality setting, if you put it to low it will be like OFF, it disable all the passenger, by putting it on medium I was finaly able to spawn passenger on any plane

They have to rework this setting, character quality should only be the 3D quality model of each avatar, I thinks they just don’t touched it when they add the quantity and variety settings on SU3…

This seems to be resolved in the live build of Sim Update 4 (sim 1.6.32.0, aircraft 6.31.0).

Didn’t work when I last tried it a few days ago. It told me that the loadsheet was only a preview and the passengers were not loaded.

Where does working title discuss this? I’ve struggled with the W&B page and EFB for about a year.

On their discord server months ago - in SU4 live release I have not had issues using the W&B function in the EFB with the MAX.

Ok so what am I doing wrong here? I’ve selected the number of passengers, called ATC and asked for boarding. After that nothing appears to happen. I’m being told the seats have not been loaded.

I always use the Load Immediately option, though I’ve noticed that warning never goes away even when the passengers are visible and the ZFW reflects loaded passengers

I get the same results when using Load Immediately.

I do see an estimated ZFW, but without confirmation that passengers are loaded. I don’t get passengers in the cabin.

What are your settings for character quantity, quality, and variety?

They are set to Medium.

EDIT> never mind After I read modeinblue’s post I rechecked and I did have have Quality set to low. Then after changing it to medium some passengers appeared in economy. But the whole reason I keep it to low in the first place is because characters were VRAM hogs and caused me to get GPU out of resources errors.

Yep I did some more test yesterday with 330 and still the same issue with Character quality setting, putting low = No passenger at all (as it should be mapped on character QUANTITY off) so no possibility to have ugly passengers to save FPS

I still have serious performances issues when they are loaded (I reported it on another topic) I loose 20-25FPS when more than 50 pax are loaded, even with low quantity, low variety, medium quality

Is it the same on PS5 ? I didn’t see a lot of FPS loss when boarding passenger on the videos I watched, my PC is really OK tier, 5060Ti with 16GB of Vram, 64GB or ram and i7 11700k
