I was wondering if someone could please explain as I don’t understand something
Asobo A320neo
Fly By Wire A320NX
The A320NX uses the same external visual model as the stock Asosbo A320neo - right?
Why then are the liveries not interchangeable between them? I cant use the NX as its unfortunately giving me many navigational issues as well as low FPS. However I see some very nice liveries for it but the authors stress its for the NX only.
I don’t understand why this is - its the same visual model. What am I missing? Its obviously something or such a distinction would not exist.
After some experimenting I wanted to just share this on here for the benefit of others who are in my position (unable to use FBW A320NX but would like to use a FBW livery on Asobo A320neo).
This can be easily done.
I’ve been busy downloading FBW liveries and after 2 or 3 minutes of making some changes to the following files the livery can be used on Asobo A320neo and works perfectly:
layout.json
manifest.json
aircraft.cfg
texture.cfg
You basically change all references to FBW A320 to point instead to Asobo A320. The easiest way to understand this is to look at the stock Asobo A320 livery folder and just duplicate it - remembering to change the name of the livery.
I want to also stress I’ve done this strictly for my personal use only.
Hope this is of some use to someone who wants Asobo A320neo in a particular livery but finds that only FBW livery is available.
Side note
Some FBW liveries are dual use - they are for both Asosbo and FBW A320neo (2 folders). So check the folder before going down this tweaking route
Wow, I didnt know about this. Thanks for sharing, very interesting . If I have the skill level* I wonder if I can tweak this (with the authors permission) to work the other way round!
